Jennings Furniture & Design — Local services in St. Thomas

After living in our farmhouse for 30 years, my husband and I decided to move off the farm and build a house suitable for empty-nesters. It was important to us that we buy furniture that was comfortable and of good quality. I spent an inordinate amount of time looking online, but I was quickly overwhelmed by the options. I knew that I could benefit from working with an interior designer, but I wasn’t sure it was in my budget. When I landed on the Jennings Furniture website, and saw that they offer free design services, I immediately made an appointment!

I met with Jason, and it was the beginning of a very worthwhile experience and a great relationship! Jason put together ideas for our great room, living room, master bedroom, foyer and dining area. He incorporated a few pieces of furniture that I wanted to keep from the farmhouse. Jason was very enthusiastic about my vision for the house, incorporating elements of ‘modern farmhouse’ with ‘mid-century modern’. He was also very cognizant of our budget, which we really appreciated. My husband, who isn’t all that interested in interior design, nevertheless really admired Jason’s talent and felt comfortable with the choices he made.

I should also mention that Jennings has specialists for different areas of the home. I met with Chrissy, who helped me choose excellent quality duvets and linens for the master bedroom. We had very specific requests, and Chrissy found everything we were looking for. She is a gem!

We could not be happier with the results! Our interior looks stunning, and everything flows well from room-to-room the way we hoped it would. We have received many compliments, and I am always happy to let visitors know about the design assistance we received from Jennings. As an aside, the two young fellows who delivered our furniture couldn’t have been more respectful and careful when moving everything into the house.

While some commenters have mentioned that Jennings is expensive, it’s important to realize that they have options at many price points and that their designers will work with you to find pieces at a price you are comfortable with. That being said, this is not The Brick – you won’t find rock bottom prices, but you also won’t find cheaply made furniture that will fall apart after 5 years. The old adage ‘you get what you pay for’ is very true here.

As a final comment, I want to say that we feel good about supporting a small, independent business that has been around for over 100 years. Especially when that business provides the kind of service and personal attention that Jennings...

Last year we chose Jennings Furniture & Design to help us furnish our new home. A year later and I am still beyond happy with the results.

I'd purchased furniture from Jennings before but had never utilized their design services. This time around we went in looking for a bedroom set and met Jason, who ended up putting together a proposal for a great room, dining area, two kids bedrooms, and the master bedroom. We gave him a budget and a few suggestions for what types of furniture we liked. We were shocked to see what he pulled together for us - we loved every single piece and he stayed well within our budget. Jason and the Jennings team picked out fabric patterns we never would have dreamed of putting together and selected items that were not in the showroom, but they felt we'd love. And they were right - we purchased it all with no changes!

This was only the beginning of Jason's amazing customer service. He picked out paint colours. Offered to find us a painter. Our floor needed to be redone and Jason went to the flooring store, picked out a floor to match our furniture, AND negotiated a better price for us. He also found us an excellent installer.

Jason suggested we put in a gallery wall, which I have tried to do in my house before but always manage to mess up the layout. Jason said not to worry and personally came and laid out the pictures and then personally installed them.

The install crew were fantastic. Courteous and careful with our furniture and our home.

A couple of the items we purchased ended having a problem (sanding or small paint chip) and with one quick email Jason had them reordered and replaced with no questions asked.

I know Jennings has a reputation for being "expensive". It's actually held me back from going to look for things there in the past. We did get a few items I'd consider to be expensive, but they're also likely to be the ones we keep around forever and maybe even pass along to our kids. And when I consider the amount we saved in design services, the fact that we're not going to want to replace any of the furniture for a long time, and their points program, I am happy with the pricing. I would definitely do it all again.

We did not see most of the furniture we purchased, but trusted Jason and the Jennings team to understand us, know their products, and provide a quality outcome. A year later everything still looks brand-new and we truly do love...

I have bought several couches from Jennings, and believing they were a reputable service I encouraged my daughter to take a look. She bought a very expensive couch (14,000+) and paid in full. This was last November. It is now 9 months later and the couch has still not been delivered. This may not be completely Jennings fault, however they often avoid returning her calls asking for updates, and when she does get through there is no sense of urgency or willingness to check on the couch. I would suggest you shop here with caution. The customer service is not stellar, and they are unapologetic.

October 29, 2022 in response to the Jenning response below- I understand that the manufacturer was delayed in getting the furniture built, however we expected 6 months, not 10 1/2, and we paid in full, over 10,000, and you didn't provide updates on the delay unless we inquired, and even then the email responses were slow. If it had been my business I would have offered some type of compensation, like the cleaning package for example. One of the cushions has a snag, and my daughter will be bringing it back. She is somewhat anxious about doing so since I wrote this review. I wrote the review because I encouraged her to purchase furniture from your store since I have done so by purchasing 3 sofa's over the years. I will come with her so that I can express my...
