Chesterman Beach — Attraction in Tofino

Chestermains Beach is a lovely constantly changing(Wind and Sea assisted) stretch of beach about 2 km long located about 4km from.the centre of Tofino. This beach has No Hotels or Resorts on its borders and is a favorite place for Surfers to either learn their craft or hone their skills.( many of the surf schools use the beach to teach the basics to newbies) There are however, many lovely private houses, some of which are available for rent. Pricey, but worth it for the view and beach access. In the last 2 years the District has erected changing facilities and shower facilities at the North and South parking lots. Parking is free and in the Summer months it is practically impossible to obtain. There is a local free shuttle bus that runs from.the centre of town with drop off spots at all the beaches including Chestermains. The shuttle bus does accomodate Surf boards. The Beach is a great place to take your kids as it has nice sand, few Rocks but the ones that are there are full of tidal pools and are ripe to explore for tiny sea creatures. You can also bring your dog and doggie bags are provided free at the entrance to each beach. SO MAKE SURE YOU USE THEM. I dont want to pick up your dog doo; neither does any other local and you will get called on it by at least 4 people if you dont do your dog duty and keep the beach clean for kids and adults. If you get hungry after the beach, there is the LIVE TO SURF/BEACHES complex about a 10 minute walk towards town. This complex is home to great fish and chips and other assorted Burger style entrees at The Wildside Grill. You will also find the famous Taco Fino truck parked at the back of the complex and Chocolate Tofino. Beaches Grocery store and The Tofitian coffee house round out the food options. In the Summer expect Delays, particularly so at Taco Fino. I believe you can phone ahead to Wildside grill to order for pick up. This is the smart move and will save you at least a 15 minute wait. Chesterman Beach is absolutely breathtaking! I loved every moment I spent here. Whether you're walking along the expansive stretch of soft sand, watching surfers ride the waves, or simply soaking in the dramatic ocean views, it's a place that instantly makes you feel connected to nature.

What stood out most to me was the peaceful atmosphere—it’s lively, but never crowded. The sunsets are next level, painting the sky with vivid colors that feel almost surreal. I also appreciated how clean and well-preserved the beach is, making it feel like a hidden gem even though it’s well-known.
