I came in today and ordered two soy milk lattes. I was the only person ordering anything.
The woman serving me was disinterested and barely looked at me. She did remember to turn the tablet around to ask for a tip though. The one who made the drinks didn't stop talking loudly to her friend who was hanging out on the other side of the counter the whole time. The topics included that she used to live in California and how she also sells cannabis under the table as a second job. I'm pretty open-minded but perhaps not the best thing to be discussing while at work?
The coffee was burned and the soy-milk poorly steamed. My wife is a barista but I'm usually not that discerning when it comes to coffee but both of us threw them away after a few sips.
I see that the owner comments on a lot of negative reviews defending the business. I understand that but as a store manager myself I try to use every review as an opportunity for reflection if I can. Just a thought.
Good luck with the business in the future.
Edit: Since posting this review I have had private messages insulting me on Facebook, which is not linked to my Google account at all. See photos.
Please be aware that if you negatively review this business you may be harassed by the owner.
The burnt coffee, the poor service and odd choices for discussion at a place of business - these things aren't great. Far worse is harassing people posting...
Read moreCame here twice for a weekend get away, first time got the drip coffee, a chocolate croissant and a breakfast croissant (bun?) Both baked goods were delicious! Coffee was mediocre coffee. Second time I went in myself, ordered 2 Americanos, which tasted just like the coffee. The first time, when my husband ordered, he came out and brought me the coffees and baked goods for myself and my kids, he made a comment about how unhappy the server seemed. The second time when I went in, (a day later) I got the same vibe. Although they do always make a point of asking for a tip (not sure why, we all know how to read don't we?). There was a local behind me in the shop waiting to order and the difference in attitude from the server was undeniably different when she started conversing with the local. The mere conversation that I got consisted of asking askingfora tip, no hi how are you have a great day.... I mean considering you train with a world champion barista 3 times a year you should really ask for your money back for that type of cost on training cause honey, you ain't getting your money's worth when your staff can't say a simple hello with a pleasant smile followed by, "have a great day"! Pretty sure tip is based on service, which I received none of, which is why I declined. After reading some responses from the owner, I will...
Read moreVery unpleasant experience. We have stayed at Crystal Cove across the street many times but had never gone to the Tofitian but we finally made it there during our stay and we will not be going back. We had a fairly simple order: americano, mocha, kids hot chocolate.. the woman taking the order got confused with every new item and had to repeat them constantly. Then when I went to pay the display that shows tip options is in plain site of the employee and she was just staring at it as I made my choice, that made me uncomfortable. We got our americano and kids hot chocolate quickly but then a 2nd americano came out.. my wife asked if it was actually a mocha and the barista was rude and said it wasnt hers, its an americano.. no one else was waiting for drinks. After a few minutes of no drinks being made my wife asked about the mocha and was told that we ordered 2 americanos even though we did not, again kinda rude. The mocha then took another 5 minutes. We had a 4 month old baby and a toddler that we were trying to deal with and the whole experience was not great. We went to Rhino Coffee the day before, had the same order and everything was perfect -...
