Driftwood Café — Restaurant in Tofino

I don’t often write negative reviews, but the customer service experience I had here was so laughably bad that I’m compelled to write a review about it.

I was waiting at the “order here” sign for about 2-4 minutes while the 2 staff members behind the counter ignored me and refused to make eye contact (even after I smiled at them and said hello). No one greeted me or acknowledged my presence. It was at the point where I doubted I was even standing in the right place to order, reassured myself I was at the right counter, but no one spoke to me…

After about 5 minutes of this, a staff member walked out from behind the counter; I thought she was going to take my order, but instead, she made a comment to another staff member about admiring their new statue. She then walked past me without a word, did not make eye contact, and left the cafe… The 2 staff behind the counter then started a passive-aggressive argument about taking orders at tables...

After about another 3 minutes of waiting in awkward silence, someone came to take my order. The cafe wasn’t that busy - perhaps 3-4 groups of people finishing their food, and then us… what an...

This was the worst cafe we visited while we were in Tofino a few weeks ago. The service was horrible. Cups were dirty, and the server/cashier was having a bad day. She completely ruined the mood for everyone. Not the best way to start your morning...Will not be returning. There are other lovely cafes in Tofino that you can visit.
