A 10-Year Anniversary to Remember: An Unforgettable Dining Experience in Tofino
For our 10-year anniversary, my husband and I wanted a celebration that was nothing short of extraordinary. We found exactly that in a remarkable fine-dining experience in Tofino—an evening that will forever be etched in our memories. This was not just a meal; it was a journey through exquisite flavors, impeccable service, and warm hospitality that made us feel truly special.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with an air of sophistication that was neither intimidating nor pretentious. The atmosphere was luxurious yet approachable, making us feel welcome and comfortable. The service embodied the "five C's"—calm, collected, charismatic, courteous, and customer-focused—creating a perfect balance of professionalism and warmth.
A standout moment of the evening was the custom-printed menu, elegantly placed at our table, reading: "Happy 10th Anniversary Christian and Patricia." This thoughtful detail set the tone for what would be an extraordinary dining experience.
We were fortunate to be served by an exceptional team:
Loretta, our server, provided attentive and seamless service, ensuring each course was presented flawlessly. Jacob, the bartender, took my husband on an exploration of fine scotches, discussing their origins, unique notes, and sourcing with genuine enthusiasm. Pablo, the sommelier, assisted us in selecting the perfect wine. We were thrilled to see our favorite wines on the menu and, with his expert guidance, ultimately chose a favorite that complemented our meal beautifully. Mustafa, the Assistant Restaurant Manager, ensured that our experience was nothing short of perfection, making us feel like truly valued guests.
Each dish was a work of art, thoughtfully crafted and bursting with flavor. The pacing was impeccable, allowing us to fully appreciate every bite without feeling rushed. We were incredibly impressed with the menu—Executive Chef Clayton Fontaine has definitely echoed his talent in all the dishes provided, showcasing creativity and precision in every plate.
One of the highlights of the evening was an exclusive tour of the restaurant’s wine cellar. The vast collection was nothing short of awe-inspiring, and learning about their carefully curated selections only deepened our appreciation for the thoughtfulness behind their offerings.
What truly set this experience apart was the ability of the staff to create an elevated dining experience while maintaining an inviting and approachable atmosphere. We never felt out of place or overwhelmed by the upscale nature of the restaurant—something that can often be a challenge in fine dining settings. Instead, we were treated with warmth, grace, and genuine hospitality. Every member of the staff impressed us with their incredible attitudes, adding to an already exceptional experience.
While our five-course meal, wine selection, and additional add-ons came at a price, every single cent was justified by the quality, service, and attention to detail. This was an experience we would eagerly relive.
This restaurant has earned a well-deserved spot on my list of must-visit places in Tofino. If you’re seeking an unforgettable culinary journey that blends world-class service, exquisite dining, and a welcoming atmosphere, look no further.
We will treasure this evening forever and can’t wait to share our photos and videos with friends, family, and fellow food lovers for a glimpse into what made this anniversary so special.

Read moreUpdated Review (2025) We’ve come along way since I expressed just a mere four years ago that this was arguably one of the best restaurants in Canada. On my most recent visit, our experience was plagued by issues right from the start but I’ll start with the good. The service we received was friendly and helpful and the subsequent efforts by the assistant manager to understand our concerns, at the very least, existed. The only reason for the 1 star rating was for the service we received because quite frankly, I would rate our overall experience a zero. I’m not sure if the chef has changed or the management has changed but something about this restaurant has digressed. The atmosphere felt stale, the ambience was meh, and generally speaking, the ‘magic’ was missing. Regarding the food, our impression overall was that the menu seemed outdated and antiquated. When the food did arrive, our suspicions were confirmed. The food was bland, under-seasoned, hot dishes were served luke-warm, and aside from some elements of one dish, all elements of the 8 dishes we had were completely underwhelming including the portion sized. To express each concern here in detail would be inappropriate but I can say we had a long running list for each dish and ultimately, each one was FAR less than desirable, certainly not worth the high dining fee. It’s a shame because I return here often. I’ve been coming for years, in fact, probably close to twenty years. We expressed our concerns to multiple people and they listened and responded well enough but we were surprised by the final summary of our experience. All said and done, we were offered a measly 15% off the bill which frankly, was laughable given that the standard tip prompts are 18%, 20%, and 22%. The gesture fell quite flat and truthfully was not adequate for our truly awful experience. We won’t be returning all said and done. Now, I’m not here to suggest we should have been given a free meal, but just a few short years ago, the experience we had would have likely garnered a much more suitable gesture and likely an invitation to return to make up the experience. Long story short, this restaurant has gone way down in standards, flavour, execution, and overall poise. The food and beverages, in particular, leave a lot to be desired. In 2025, I would not recommend visiting this restaurant at all, especially for the price. It has a beautiful view but at the multi-hundred dollar dining fee for two people, you will feel taken.
Original Review (2021) Without a doubt, a five star rating. The food, service, and ambience are all in top form. Frankly, probably the best in Canada. I absolutely love Tofino and often head there for my birthday for some surfing and dining. The Inn is my top spot for accommodations. The beach, the atmosphere, and the amenities are certainly worth the boutique prices. If you haven't gone, make...
Read moreService: Arrived on time with reservation, waited 5 min at the lobby. Understandable. First acknowledgement from waiter 6 min after sit down. First cup of water 10 min after sit down. Not acceptable. Only intro to menu is to mention that no crab for seafood platter. Acceptable. Ordering is hard as restaurant background is loud and waiter can't hear anything, made correction 3 times with 4 items ordered in total. Understandable. After placed the order is long long wait. Breads are served quickly, but the others are very slow. It takes 20 min for appetizer, and another 20 min for main dish. 1 hour 15 min after our reserved time, we had our main dish served. This is slot but understandable. However, service is minimum during the wait, water glass is empty for total of 15+ min. This is not acceptable. To make it worse, no waiter/server was paying attention. During the entire dinner, our assigned waiter was chatting with another bigger table all the time, he did quickly check hows food 5 min after main dish is served, and thats it. Takes 15 min to ask for bill with only 3~4 tables remaining dining. The waiter still keep serving one table, walks with heads down and didn't look at our table for the entire duration. We are not able to get his attention. The server come to clean up everything on our table because it was close to closing time before we even able to get the bill. This is the most unacceptable part for entire experience. Bill starts with 18% tip, understandable with tip inflation, but given the price of the restaurant and service, this is not acceptable. Also tips are calculated with tax. General practise but not acceptable.
Food: Appetizer is fancy but taste terrible. I am not against innovation but make a delicious food first please. I feel all the pay goes to crediting dead brain cell from chief to how to make looks interesting but terrible tasting food. Main dish was surprisingly good comparing to appetizer. But given lowered standard due to appetizer, overall its OK compare to its price.
Overall: It is understandably pricy given the remote location and "vacation" vibe, but to make it fair it was overpriced by at least 50%. It will be a better experience if waiter pay more attention to customer, and foods are better. Will be 1 star if it happens in any other competitive region.
Edit: Changed rating to 1 because just tried a restaurant that is on par with normal BC mainland standard. There are good restaurant here not all place in Tofino is for only tourism hype, there are good ones, just...
