2023 UPDATE, THIS NIGHTMARE NEVER ENDS!!! After "graduating" years ago, I get a response from the school saying that my graduation as never official because I had not taken on a 2nd GNED course. I finished at this school in 2018 and in 2023 I'm told my certificate is invalid. The wild part is I fully completed a course that was built for me by an academic advisor, passed every class... The school apologised and paid for me to take this random class that I am currently attending. The text book for this customer service class is over 15 years old and talks about how we should use Palm Pilots and has test questions about the hot new social media twitter and it's character limit, the pre 2010 character limit, if you answered the question correctly you would get it wrong. Many of the companies referenced in the course are long dead.
Update: I completed my program back in December. When I looked at my final transcript I still had one of the classes I dropped (and was told to drop in the text below) on my record as "Failed" a class I never attended and took instead in my final semester... And of course I can't get any of the academic advisors or people in my department to get back to me. It has literally been over a month since I contacted my advisor and no response... Again.
3rd update: Just started my 3rd semester. A semester I'm only taking because I was lied to by an academic advisor at the school. Should have only been a 2 semester course, but read below for more details. It's now the 2nd week and I have missed 3 classes! due to being waitlisted for a class I registered for last month, and initially signed up for back at the start of summer when I was advised to drop them to lighten my course load. Just yesterday I was assigned a class that I am unable to attend due to its time, and met with an advisor to make sure this wouldn't happen last month.
I had to speak to a PR person from the school a couple months ago regarding what happened. They said they would sort everything out and ensure it wouldn't happen again. There is a major issue with Centennials' progress campus advisors, or lack thereof and it need to be fixed.
An advisor not only told me drop a class with no financial penalty (there was FULL financial penalty) I then received academic penalty because my advisor lost my signed drop sheet. Then lied about ever receiving it from me. Thankfully not only did I have the carbon copy but an email with another advisor confining the details and I was able to correct their mistake, but I still lost that money, money I cannot afford to lose.
I'm so upset and stressed out with the way this school handles its students.
2nd update: I was advised to drop classes. But no adviser approved my submitted drop form, so now that they have approved it (over a month after I submitted it) it's past the deadline for a refund. They literally robbed me and I STILL CAN'T MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN ADVISER, it's been over a month and the average drop in wait times are well over an hour. I work full time and can wait 2 hours, for a meeting that may not happen.
Update: I've now been waiting over 3 weeks to see an advisor! I keep getting bounced around and now my advisor went on vacation, and she referred me to another advisor who won't reply to my emails. I was advised to drop couple classes, but I have no clue what the implications of droping theses classes would be. No one at this school can or will help me. And its costing me thousands of dollars...
Just started my 2nd semester. The place is an uncaring diploma mill. Registration is a joke and has caused me to miss over 10 classes between these semesters so far. There is one person assigned to help you, and that one person is also assigned to a thousand other people, so average turn around for help is about 2 weeks... I cant believe how much money I spent to go here. The teachers and curriculum are just as bad (most...
Read moreREAD IF YOU WANT TO JOIN CENTENNIAL'S PILOT PROGRAM OR BE AN INSTRUCTOR AT CFA!!!!
I joined the IATPL program in hopes of getting out within 2 years with all my pilot's licenses through Centennial College's partnership with Canadian Flight Academy. However, after 1 year of the program, I have found out that it is essentially a huge scam.
(KEEP IN MIND THERE WAS 17 PEOPLE IN MY INCOMING CLASS THAT ALL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE). CFA itself has ridiculous weather minimums so most of the time you are just sitting at home doing nothing even though they tell you that you won't have time for a part-time job(you very much do). Right next door is another school, Durham Flight Centre, that seemingly always has planes going up while CFA is just fiddling with their fingers at the desk. Most other modular programs for the PPL phase should not last you more than a year if you are full-time. While this is purely anecdotal, I know instructors and students in modular programs who finished their PPL with part-time jobs around 6 months even with the weather constraints we have in Toronto.
The inconsistent training slows your progression and also makes it more expensive. In the IATPL program, you will pay well over 30,000 dollars for the PPL phase. That price point is already more than twice as expensive as the average price at a modular/private school. On top of the 30,000+ dollars, you will also be forced to pay for more supplemental flights because your training is super inconsistent.
CFA is also forced to relocate to another airport because they went through a legal issue with the city of Oshawa. They say Peterborough but that isn't even finalized yet and there are 3 other flight schools there they have to compete with. Seneca already has their school there with their own IATPL program. If you don't live in Oshawa/Peterborough that is just more time and financial costs for you to either move or commute.
From word of mouth of people in the industry, I was told other IATPL programs, such as Seneca and Brampton, have deadlines for their phases in training. CFA/Centennial does not.
At the moment I am also getting more information on my refund after leaving but there are some strange discrepancies. Centennial sent me a refund document that stated that my first and second semester charges were around 3000 and 1000 dollars short of what I paid for tuition. I assume that it was tuition for the bullshit online DEI course that Centennial makes you do which is the very slim link you have to Centennial as a student with them. Unless you live near and want to check out the Centennial campuses, you will spend 0 time there and utilize the facilities you are technically paying for. (Still in the process of seeing if I can even get that money back). UPDATE: the coordinator of the pilot program said the Administrative fee for each phase is 1000 dollars. If you don't believe that you are getting scammed I don't know what else to tell you
If you are willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars to be consistently delayed and have no guarantees on when you will be finished with your licenses CFA is the place for you. FYI the last time a school had to relocate to another airport...

*For some reason, this REVIEW was taken down. It was up for 2 weeks and was taken down a few days ago (for some reason, outside of my control), and now again on the main Centennial College Review Page (current date - July-5-2025) and is now back. I have added their names for this case too.
I am not an international student, I was a DOMESTIC NON-WHITE student.
I reported an incident, at Centennial College at the Ashtonbee Campus (Sept.2024-Nov-2024, as I tried to place a review months ago, but it was to no avail. for some reason on Google Reviews), which involved hard right wing political spreading without being asked and multiple disrespectful behaviors targeted towards a student covered up as "jokes" by an instructor (Gregory Hubbard) when confronted. As well as, another instructor (Alex Grupp) who was not helping the student and specifically helping certain ones, he favored. This program needs a revamp in instructors (except for one), as they will now try to change their behavior to cover up whatever they did to the student(s) recently and in the past. They will also try to change their image and make themselves look good/liberal in the public eye, as one instructor is now on a podcast for some reason as of last month (Nov-Dec 2024). I do hope the Ontario Ombudsman looks into this school as well as well as other powers. I will not go into details, as per confidentiality.
The DEAN (Paulo Santos) of the Ashtonbee Campus, did whatever he could to protect these instructors of that specific program as well, even knowing they were WRONG. The dean did whatever he could to silence the student. There is voice recording(s), sent to Student Experience Centre at Centennial College, for evidence purposes. The DEAN also expelled the student (The DEAN did whatever he could to expel the student, as, emails were CC'd to the Student Experience Office showing this) and the student had to fight to get it "suspended" with an academic appeal battle (2-4 months). The student's goal was to be back in class for W2025 and finish the program, not to be expelled or suspended based off the actions of others. The student also PASSED every single course for that semester (Fall Semester - Sept-2024). This was NOT RIGHT, as the DEAN's goal was only to EXPEL and that alone.
Be aware future students, and if any students in the past has had bad/racist/targeted political bigoted experiences, specifically at the Ashtonbee Campus, within certain departments (Motorcycle Tech), please report it to the Student Experience Office of Centennial College ASAP, Legal Team, or the Ontario Ombudsman.
UPDATED (B/C I CANONT REPLY): "While we have a different understanding of the events described, we respect your right to share your perspective"
Many of it was recorded on camera. There was 3 voice recordings sent to the SEO (Katherine) and finally, Neil Buddell knows the whole case. That is all I am saying, there is no "perspective", everything I am...
