Morningside park is located in Scarborough. It’s a great park for family outings! With plenty of amenities like picnic tables, barbecues, a children's playground, a splash pad, and even a cement ping pong table, there's something for everyone. The option to rent bikes adds to the recreational opportunities, especially with the walking path that's suitable for both walking and biking. It a quite a pleasant experience to enjoy the park's natural surroundings, including the ravine. Restrooms: Very bad It's disappointing to see that the restrooms aren't up to par. Clean and well-maintained. In a public setting, facilities are important for a pleasant park experience. We paid for our picnic area we would like to provide feedback to the park management or local authorities could help address this issue so that everyone can enjoy the park comfortably. Parking: Free Parking must go early No water source - If you need water for your cooking needs must bring water. It’s a good to add a water source close to the picnic area. Waste Bins: Available

Morningside Park offers a quick escape from the bustling city life with a number of trails (both paved and natural), picnic areas and even a playground all within walking distance. One of Morningside's hidden features is Tallyho hill (which got it's name from the Toronto Boy Scouts division in the 1920's). The base of which starts towards the third parking lot and serves as a lookout point for the park. The extensive paths of Morningside park can also be followed to the University of Toronto (Scarborough Campus), Rouge Valley Hospital, the Guildwood GO Station, and Old Kingston Rd. (which is a stone's throw from Colonel Danforth Park). Pros: - Lots of trails perfect for bike riding, jogging or a casual stroll - The view from Tallyho Hill - BBQ and campfire pits - Playground - Multiple public washrooms - Plenty of parking Cons: - The musky smell of the nearby rivers can be a bit overwhelming at times - The main field can get crowded on summer weekends

Morningside Park is a hidden gem in the heart of Scarborough, offering a perfect escape into nature within the bustling city. This expansive park is known for its picturesque landscapes, diverse wildlife, and well-maintained trails, making it an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike.

Highlights:

Scenic Beauty: The park is blessed with stunning natural beauty, including lush forests, rolling hills, and the serene Highland Creek. The changing seasons bring vibrant colors and diverse scenery, making each visit unique.

Extensive Trails: Morningside Park boasts an extensive network of trails suitable for walking, jogging, and cycling. The trails are well-marked and maintained, offering a range of difficulty levels to cater to all visitors. The trails along the creek are particularly scenic and peaceful.

Wildlife: The park is a haven for wildlife, with numerous bird species, small mammals, and even deer spotted by visitors. Birdwatchers and nature photographers will find plenty to admire here.

Picnic Areas: There are several well-equipped picnic areas with tables and benches, perfect for family gatherings, barbecues, or simply enjoying a meal in nature. The open green spaces also provide ample room for games and relaxation.

Accessibility: The park is easily accessible, with ample parking available at multiple entrances. The well-maintained paths and facilities make it a convenient and enjoyable destination for all age groups.

Areas for Improvement:

Restroom Facilities: The restroom facilities could benefit from more frequent cleaning and maintenance, especially during peak times. Additional restrooms in different areas of the park would also be a welcome addition.

Signage and Maps: Improved signage and more detailed maps at key points throughout the park would enhance the visitor experience. Clear markers for trailheads, picnic areas, and points of interest would be helpful, especially for first-time visitors.

Litter Management: While the park is generally clean, occasional littering can detract from the natural beauty. More trash bins and regular patrols to clean up litter would help maintain the park’s pristine condition.

Conclusion:

Morning side Park is a fantastic destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat into nature without leaving the city. Its beautiful landscapes, diverse trails, and abundant wildlife make it a perfect spot for outdoor activities and relaxation. Despite minor areas for improvement, the park’s natural charm and well-maintained facilities make it a must-visit location for residents and...

Title: A Serene Escape at Morningside Park Scarborough

Rating: ★★★★☆

Morningside Park in Scarborough offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, with its beautiful trails and abundant wildlife. I recently had the pleasure of visiting this park, and I would like to share my experience.

The trails at Morningside Park are truly a hidden gem. They offer a peaceful retreat for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a refreshing outdoor experience. The well-maintained paths wind through lush greenery, creating a calming ambiance that instantly transports you away from the urban surroundings. Whether you're an avid hiker or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll, the trails at Morningside Park cater to all levels of fitness and provide an opportunity to reconnect with nature.

One of the highlights of my visit was spotting beavers in their natural habitat. These fascinating creatures can often be seen near the waterways within the park. It was a delight to observe them busily building their dams and going about their daily activities. Morningside Park's commitment to preserving the natural environment has created a habitat that supports a diverse range of wildlife, making it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and animal lovers.

The park is well-maintained, and the signage along the trails is clear and informative, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for visitors. The presence of benches and picnic areas throughout the park offers the perfect opportunity to take a break, relax, and soak in the tranquil surroundings.

One area for improvement would be the availability of more amenities such as water fountains or washroom facilities along the trails. It would be beneficial, especially for longer walks or hikes, to have access to these basic facilities for convenience and comfort.

In conclusion, Morningside Park in Scarborough is a true haven for nature lovers. The picturesque trails, abundant wildlife, and peaceful ambiance make it a perfect destination for a refreshing outdoor experience. I highly recommend visiting this park and exploring its hidden treasures. Just make sure to come prepared with water and plan your restroom breaks accordingly. Morningside Park is a true gem that should...

Fantastic place for a long walk. Lots of wildlife including deer, fox, rabbits, mink, beaver and great insects. It's a haven for Japanese beatles since there are so many grape vines in this valley.

There are open views up high, flat playing spaces as well as close trails and some central bathroom facilities. It can be crowded near parking during holidays but there are lots of trails to sneak away on no matter how many people are there.

It borders on the University of Toronto going east and residential areas going west. The stream or river even contains salmon during certain times of the year.

Bring a perfumed mask in late summer - since the mildew and swamp gases in some lower ares are a bit overwhelming for the sensitive nose.

Right now it is fantastic (April) since there aren't any insects and the air is fresh.

You can find everything from fossils to cast iron engine blocks in the stream banks - since fill from all over was used to shore up the boundaries from erosion.

Currently they are working on the Morningside bridge so entry and exit to the park are only from the south bound lane of Morningside Ave.

Witness the marvel of modern construction where they still use a metal reinforcement called "rebar" in concrete on the Morningside bridge. The "rebar" starts off rusty and continues to expand in the concrete as it oxidises resulting in expensive, time consuming, noisy and inconvenient future repairs. Ask anyone with an apartment building with concrete balconies. It takes longer to repair these things than it took for the original construction.

I'm surprised they still allow this in Canada.

Cool to watch though. :)

And a great view from...
