Don't go at night time. The area around this place is haunted. My friend and I went last summer at 1AM and we started the trail at River St. We finished the trail a hour later with our bikes and decided to go back the way we came. Around the parking lot (after you finish the trail and end up at a parking lot that takes you somewhere along danforth). We went back and heard drumming noises sorta like native drumming noises. We looked in that area and it was pitch black. After we stopped for a break, where theres a bridge that takes you across the creek into deeper forests with a stream. I heard leaves cracking next to me and it got closer, thought it was a raccoon, but after I turned around and saw a figure lunge out of the bushes. I took a quick glimpse and noticed she was atleast 6ft tall (guessing she was floating or some hobo) But no kidding she was grey-ish glowing with shoulder length hair. I totally peddled fast and got away from that area, never spoke a word to my friend the whole way back. We saw a family of Deer and felt at peace at the end of trail.. Creepy. Not sure if anyone else...
Read moreMy backyard here in the East York beaches riding where I am canvassing for the green party backs onto Taylor's Creek, managed by the Toronto region conservation authority, one of the most active conservation authorities in Ontario. Taylor's Creek park starts around Victoria park and runs to the don river valley trail system. It is possible to ride or rollerblade along the creek over to the don valley and either go north to Sunnybrook park or Edwards garden or go south to the waterfront trail and either west to the Humber valley trails or east to Highland Creek and the rouge national park. The cliffs of the valleys along these rivers and creeks are mainly wild but not exactly in pristine condition with many invasive species crowding out our native wildflowers. However alot of work and money has been spent trying to restore these ecosystems and they are still pretty nice. Generally people are very friendly but if course if you are a female, one has to avoid these...
Read moreI love walking through Taylor Creek Park with my dog. Especially through the dirt path that runs through the woods. During the week day is the best, especially in the summer because of all the picnics happening by large groups of people on weekends. The only down side are the occasional cyclists that go through this wooded path rather than staying on the paved road that runs through the park. I wish the city would ban cyclists from the dirt path especially because there are so many little children running around especially on weekends and most dog walkers choose the dirt road to walk on because of all the cyclists on the paved road. The dogs also have access points to the creek which many of them...
