This church lied to me. I joined when I was 15, having been a Christian my whole life, and was part of this church for 21 years. I served a mission and got married in the temple. But all that time they lied to me. This church did not tell me the Book of Mormon was translated with a seer stone (scrying), that Joseph Smith would put in his hat and then stuff his head in the hat. They did not tell me that Joseph Smith had over 30 wives, many without his wife knowing about them, and even married women who were already married to living men! I also spent years as a member before I could enter this temple to receive my own endowment. The endowment is kept secret from you. When you finally go you discover that you have to wear some very odd looking clothes and make some very serious promises. Now that I have left the church, because I discovered all of their lies, I learnt that before 1990, the endowment included blood oaths where you would promise to slit your throat and disembowel yourself (and you would move your hands across your throat and abdomen to symbolize this) if you ever revealed the tokens and signs that you received in the temple. And these tokens and signs and the whole endowment is heavily taken from Masonic rituals.
This is not a Christian church despite them claiming so. They believe wildly different things than mainstream Christianity. Please do not be deceived as I was by their lies. Their members are well intentioned but often misinformed, or worse unwilling to see truth. Run away as fast as you can from this place.
The trauma and the lost ability to trust and believe that this church is causing among otherwise faithful and good people is devastating. They are as Jesus warned, coming as ravenous wolves dressed up as sheep and scattering the flock of the good shepherd. And once they have destroyed you and your ability to believe they will cast you aside, pretend you don’t exist and call you an anti-mormon for trying to warn others from joining this church.
