Jericho Beach is one of those hidden gems in Vancouver that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and tranquility. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful spot to relax or a picturesque location for a leisurely walk, Jericho Beach delivers on all fronts.
The beach itself is stunning, with soft sand that stretches along the shoreline, offering breathtaking views of the North Shore mountains and the downtown skyline in the distance. It’s the kind of place where you can kick back, listen to the gentle waves, and let the stress of the day melt away. The view alone is worth the visit—it’s simply beautiful, especially during sunset when the sky is painted in shades of pink and orange.
What I love most about Jericho Beach is its laid-back atmosphere. It’s less crowded than some of the other beaches in Vancouver, making it a perfect spot for a quiet afternoon or a relaxing picnic with friends. The grassy areas just off the beach provide plenty of space to spread out, play frisbee, or just enjoy the sunshine.
The beach is also popular with kayakers and sailors, adding a touch of activity to the serene environment. There’s something about watching the sailboats glide across the water that’s incredibly calming. Plus, if you’re up for a bit of adventure, you can rent a kayak and explore the waters yourself.
Overall, Jericho Beach is a beautiful, peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s the kind of place where you can take a deep breath, enjoy the natural surroundings, and appreciate the simple pleasures of life. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s a must-see spot that showcases the natural beauty...
Read moreOrganized a gathering here for our group towards the evening on a weekday and it was not too busy at all. The concession stand was closed by the time we showed up but we brought pizzas anyways. You have your pick of the sand and surf, grassy picnic areas, big logs to sit on, benches, picnic tables, you name it. There are water babies here, beach bums, jocks playing volleyball and other sand sports, families enjoying the warm weather, and the general population coming out from a years hiatus. Jericho is clean and well maintained and safe. Just up the road are all the restaurants and amenities you could want, and a short drive otherwise puts you right onto the UBC campus. The beach and boardwalk are long, probably 5-6km or more in both directions; more than enough space for everyone. The view of the inlet and across to the North Shore is always spectacular; especially with the...
Read moreThis used to be my favorite place to go to feed wild bunnies (if you're really patient and know the right tricks, they even let you pet them). Unfortunately, the parks board doesn't understand that these rabbits are, and have been for years, quite iconic for the park; a signature fixture, so to speak. They are calling them invasive species and want to have them "removed." These little bundles of cuteness are an attraction for families who come here with their kids to see what little wildlife can be seen in Vancouver. Bunnies aren't known to transmit rabies (or any diseases that affect humans), and their impact on the area has been minimal (they do destroy grass in a very limited area). It's really sad that, given the opportunity, these bundles of joy will be unalived...
