I received a lot of attitude from Jessica today and it ruined my experience. After seeing my buddy burger come up and sit under the heat lamp while a different staff member took multiple orders, I asked if that was my buddy burger over there and said that given how long the burger had been made, I had been waiting a while for it to actually cross the counter to my hands. Jessica immediately asked how long I had been waiting, to which I could not reply because I was not given a receipt. When I told her I wasn't given a receipt, she said, "Well would you LIKE one?" She missed the point. I said, "No, I'd just like my buddy burger that's been sitting there for several minutes." Meanwhile, the other staff member, who was doing all of the work, determined that it was in fact my burger and proceeded to bag it and give it to me, at which point Jessica said, "Well THERE you go." I found Jessica to be unnecessarily rude and demeaning. She had a righteous attitude that made me feel like I should be grateful to wait not only for my buddy burger to be made, which is totally reasonable, but also for multiple orders to be processed prior to my already prepared order being given to me. It is rare that I leave a review like this and rare that I experience such poor service in a city where people are desperate for money and others would be grateful to have her job. Jessica should have gone back into the staff room she came out of because she wasn't serving any customers at the till and she wasn't fulfilling any orders in the kitchen. She literally came out and sassed me for asking for my food. It was incredible. I will enjoy my A&W food at the UBC location instead of the Alma location from now on because of this incident. I do not pay money for lukewarm food served with a side of rudeness...
Read moreDespite friendly staff and generally clean facilities, simple mistakes while making food means I don’t recommend eating here, especially if you have any allergies.
I requested a burger without an ingredient, and checked both on ordering and on receiving the burger that it had been left off. I didn’t mention that the reason for excluding it was anaphylactic allergy. Staff confirmed both times that the ingredient had been left off. I didn’t open it up and check it in front of them, although in hindsight I should have. I take responsibility for not disclosing the allergy. I believe a request to leave off an ingredient, followed by a second verification that it had been excluded should have been sufficient to ensure it was done.
After travelling approximately 25 minutes away, I opened the bag/box to discover a small amount of allergen on the side of the burger. I opened the burger fully and discovered that it was covering the bun and burger. My spouse tasted it to confirm the ingredient/allergen was present, and that it wasn’t a different ingredient. It’s not a stretch to say that if I hadn’t noticed the small amount on the side of bun, taking a bite could have been a life-threatening mistake.
After being incredibly hungry and tired and at the end of a long day, looking forward to eating this burger ended very poorly. Although the staff are polite and the store seems clean, I cannot recommend...
Read moreI had a excellent experience while visiting the 4th and Alma location in Vancouver. Do not have a single complaint. The options are as par with other A&W franchises. Fresh and amazing quality. Great presentation though a bit of parsley for garnish would help brighten the stoneware. We all eat with our eyes a bit.
The multicultural staff can not be beat, in this fine multicultural city of ours. Service was that of a small town feel. You know, friendly and welcoming! I felt at home while eating breakfast, (two eggs, bacon, hash brown, toast and coffee. On special for a very reasonable price!!)
Potential for group booking as floor plan could be change for the needs of a small function.
A&W actively supports MS Society of Canada. 🧡
100% I will be returning!!🙏🏻💙
Breakfasts with A&W bring comfort and energy to start the day off right!
Day 5 visit: Once again this Canadian Franchisee Burger Place produced an unbelievable breakfast experience. This morning was the All-Canadian Special with a side of delicious pancakes. I'm a big dude but could not overcome this challenge. Just to much...
