Xing Fu Tang 幸福堂 — Attraction in Waterloo

I’m surprised this place is still called Xing Fu Tang because the quality has declined significantly. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, and the drinks were always rich, creamy, and fresh. However, my recent visit was disappointing. The drinks lacked flavor and consistency— the matcha milk tea tasted powdery, the brown sugar milk tea was almost transparent, and the taro milk tea was watery.

When we brought up our concerns and requested a refund, the staff was unhelpful and defensive. They initially refused, insisting the drinks were made correctly, and offered to replace them instead. After a lengthy and uncomfortable exchange, we finally received a refund, but the experience was unpleasant due to the dismissive attitude and unprofessional behavior of the staff.

This business has the best bubble tea I have EVER had. I'm used to the artifical sweetened taste of many bubble tea shops but when I tell you this is the one and only place I have found that provides a creamy non-false sugary taste that doesn't leave me feeling sick, it's a 10/10. The drink is fully customizable, the staff is friendly, the atmosphere isn't cluttered or loud, it's cleanly, and there are a plentitude of selections to choose from. As well, the average drink is between 6-7 dollars.

Be aware, the business is on an upper level and, as far as I'm aware, requires stairs to access it. So, that said, I can't vouche for it being wheelchair accessible.

Overall, I would 1000% go again and reccomend for others to give this shop the attention...

The quality of the drinks for the price is just 👎.

I ordered the mango smoothie with strawberry tapioca and brown sugar oat latte. The strawberry tapioca were just hard and raw (old and not made fresh), the smoothie itself is just okay, not terrible, but nothing spectacular. The oat latte was pretty much undrinkable, it had a very burnt and unpleasantly bitter taste, had no sweetness to it despite it supposedly being at 50% sugar level, not 0%. Did not resemble anything like a latte, more like something you'd make your friends drink as a dare.

Not trying to be mean, but just giving an honest review of my experience.

I am an avid bbt drinker, the quality is simply unacceptable, especially at this price point...
