Rio Futaleufú Rafting — Attraction in Futaleufú

No words can describe what we experienced yesterday. We were very nervous as it was our first time rafting in our lives but very fortunate to be able to do that in Futaleufu river which is considered to be amongst the top 10 rafting experiences in the world!

We started communicating with Sharon an Aussie who lives in Futaleufu for a few years already and owns the company with her husband. She was super fast, efficient and friendly and helped us book the bridge to bridge trip. When we arrived we changed our trip from Bridge to Macau instead (with absolutely no regrets).

We were taken by their mini bus to the starting point where they gave us a lot of gear to keep us warm and we did a mini training with our guide Jorge (amazing!💥) and off we went. We felt safe the entire time and we worked quickly as a team. Sharon was strategically located at various points throughout our trip and took some amazing shots (included in the price of what you pay).

At the end, there were some refreshments and snacks for us and a 45 minute drive back to their office.

Not all companies in Futaleufu offer the same experience. All the companies prices are close to the same and they are on the same river but you get more for your money with Rafting Futaleufu. They run the full day every day while other companies will only do the full day at low water levels. I went with Rafting Futaleufu on a high level day and they were so very safe and professional. I went with another company at a much lower level because rafting Futaleufu didn't have a trip and the company took all the sneak lines instead of the rapids and it wasn't as much fun. I ran the full day again with Rafting Futaleufu at the lower level and got so much more out of it. We did flip once and the kayak and cataraft had everyone picked up so quickly. Also Rafting Futaleufu had thicker wetsuits with full sleeves which kept me much warmer. These are the best guides (Julio, Luis, Lucas) on the river with so much international experience. The owners are fantastic and kind. Don't pick the wrong company for your once in a lifetime trip on the Futaleufu. Get all you can out of it by choosing...

I was very nervous as it would be my first time white water rafting! I had nothing to worry about. From the moment we went into the shop I was put at ease. Although grade 5, we did Puente a Puente and then Macal. It was INCREDIBLE. Sharon & Mauricio have an awesome team. Mauricio was our guide on the raft. He had the perfect balance of being serious when he needed to be, to talk through the next part of the rapid and then was an absolute joker too! The safety team were amazing and I know if I'd have fallen into the water I would have been rescued in seconds!! They throw in some surprise extra adrenaline moments which we loved and the snacks at the end were delicious!! Sharon also took some really great photos and videos of us so we can remember the day forever... Not that we'll forget an experience like that in a hurry. If you're doing rafting in Futa, go...
