An attractive year-round destination that blends education, conservation and entertainment into a myriad of attractions, Ocean Park delivers endless excitement, fun and thrills for kids and adults alike. Separated by a large mountain into two areas, i.e., The Waterfront and The Summit, the sprawling OP is thrice bigger than Hong Kong Disneyland, and a good mix of aquarium, amusement park, park and zoo with animal exhibits, interactive shows/performances, kid-friendly and heart-pounding rides in seven zones: Aqua City, Whiskers Harbour, Amazing Asian Animals (The Waterfront), Polar Adventure, Thrill Mountain, Rainforest, Marine World (The Summit). The Summit is perched atop the mountain. There is no direct walkway from The Waterfront but these areas can be reached by (1) The Ocean Express funicular railway that has a submarine-like feel and/or The OP Cable Car that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape of mountains and a gorgeous coastline. Although not quite as high as other mountainous parks, OP still offers one of the most spectacular views of the island and the South China Sea. There is no shortage of scenic viewpoints, exciting attractions/activities, unique dining experiences and retail outlets scattered all over OP for both the young and young at heart to enjoy within a single day, or even two! Recently we visited OP and had a whale of a time! Considering our last trip was several years back with tons to see and do at a comfortable pace, a 2-day touring plan was more viable so that we could leisurely “stop and smell the roses” whenever. To us, ropeway rides were most lovely and serene but going over the hills at a pretty precarious angle could be scary to some. For sure, we rode the adrenaline-pumping thrill rides till our hearts’ content. Among dizzying The Flash, snowscape-themed Arctic Blast and exhilarating Hair Raiser, we liked HR most. It was especially therapeutic viewing the different marine and land animals at the Grand Aquarium, Shark Mystique, Dolphin Explorations, South Pole Spectacular, Arctic Fox Den, North Pole Encounter and Amazing Asian Animals as well as snapping pictures, strolling among the greenery and soaking up the fresh air. We had delectable meals at the Tuxedos Restaurant and marvelled at the adorbs, playful penguins frolicking on the ice or in the water up close in comfort. One of OP’s latest highlights was the Le Petit Prince 80th Anniversary Galactic Voyage – the glittering journey of lights and shadows was spectacularly colorful and captivating! This special OP-LPP collaboration has made our trip extra interesting and worthwhile. Every moment of our visit has been positively relaxing, fun and immersive! This premier educational theme park, albeit aging and negative reviews, is still a fab place for a fun day out. While some attractions are closed as part of routine maintenance or shut down for good, it is for the purpose of ensuring safety as well as part of OP revamp and rejuvenation program. Prior to making the trip, do check OP official website for latest updates and it is best to get admission tickets in advance to avoid waiting in long lines at the ticket booth, particularly during peak and super peak periods.

Ocean Park Hong Kong is a popular marine-themed amusement park that offers a diverse range of attractions. The park features a mix of thrilling rides, animal exhibits, and live shows. The exhibits include sharks, dolphins, and penguins. We even saw a real white fox! The main star of the visit for me will be the scenic cable car ride. It takes us about 30-40 minutes in the moving queue to get to the summit. If you have constantly hungry kids, do pack some snacks and plain water for them. Yes, the place allows us to bring outside food for our own consumption. Just be sure to bin them properly. Actually, the place is generally clean. However, I think the toilets near some rides can be better maintained. The view is so stunning, and just when you reach the top, you can already see the roller coaster ride! The cable car has 6 small seats and sliding windows, which you can open for some fresh air. We went in Dec, so it was pretty chilly. If you are not scared of heights, this is a great way to enjoy the view of the other nearby islands in HK from the summit. Alternatively, you may ride the train up which arrives at certain timings. I think that one goes under tunnel. Most rides cater to adrenaline enthusiasts and for families with children 7 years old and above. For the younger ones, the Oceanarium and animal exhibits will be a better bet. There's a lot of focus on conservation and education at the park, which makes a good learning for families with children. For souvenir shopping, there are a couple of stalls selling Ocean Park-labelled gifts, t-shirts, and lots more. Many cafes around to get your quick fix. For Muslims, there are Halal-certified cafes available, so do check out the official website for details. Suggest not to go Ocean Park during the winter if you can't take the cold weather especially at the rides. You can spend the whole day here or maybe 2.

To make the most of your Ocean Park trip, try to be in a fit physical condition where you can run, jump and stand in long queues under the scorching sun. This pace has a strong footfall of tourists and we went on the golden week on 2nd October, so anticipating that the rush shall be madding we reached the gates at 8am. They only allow inside the security gates after 9am and then inside the park at 9:45am. The wait outside can be made pleasant. Take turns between your team and go to washroom if you need freshening up. There is a small overbridge that connect Ocean Park entry to the MTR from where you can buy your essentials at the 7-Eleven (water/ sandwiches/ juice etc). Carry plenty of watar inside. Remember food inside is TRIPLE the usual rates and quantity is SMALL. So you will end up spending a lot if you go inside for the full day without a food/ beverage plan. Also the souvenirs inside are very expensive as compared to the city markets. Once the gates opened the mad rush of visitors stormed inside. There is no discipline once gates open, before that everyone is standing in a queue though. We ran towards the Cable Car (because that becomes crowded later). Once we were done with the cable car ride we went for some rides that were on this side of the Park. Then we took the Ocean Express train instead of Cable Car and came to the other side where we enjoyed the rest of the Park. The Aquariums are quite nice. But it’s always a sad sight to find animals in captivity. We skipped the light show as we were all so tired and called it a day.

Absolutely lovely place. I highly suggest coming at 10:30 and on a weekday. Immediately when coming to ocean park, i suggest going to the grand aquarium first, and then a ride to the other side of the park. After reaching, you take an escalator to the next floor, where the thrilling rides are. Most rides were open, and it is so much better than Disney Land. The staff are quite helpful, and are frequently fluent in english. The rides are also quite generous with their low height range, allowing more children of shorter heights to enter rides. You can see many amazing animals, such as penguins, seals, walruses, arctic foxes, and also a dolphin show. I highly suggest taking pictures of the whole map of the place. The place is not organised very well, and I ended up missing a few places. I DEFINITELY recommend going for the cable car, especially during evening times. There is a lot of greenery and lovely views, and it is definitely worth visiting as it is free, and you can go on it as many times. I do wish that there were vegetarian options, but there is a McDonalds, so no complaining. You can also visit Ocean World (A water park), next to Ocean Park on the next day, where there are even more thrilling water rides. Overall, lovely place, everything can be done in one day, and many rides can also be done twice, but I suggest having specific time slots saved for both the cable car and dolphin show, so that you dont miss them.

Ocean park didn’t live up to the expectations. If you have only one day for theme park in Hong Kong then I recommend going to Disneyland. Roller coaster wasn’t adventurous at all. Most of the other rides are good for kids but they’re not so great for adults. I have been to better theme parks that have better and scarier rides. Roller coasters at the Disneyland are much better than Ocean Park’s, it’s runtime is longer and have much more thrill. Artic Blast: Roller coaster for kids really Wild Twister & The Flash: Only 2 rides that I enjoyed at the park. They are really good for adrenaline rush. Hair Raiser: Very much hyped roller coaster that wasn’t as much fun. I went on Halloween’s 31st October and bought passes for all the horror events but the line was so long that I could only attend 2 out of 6 I had paid for. I stood in line for 4 hours and ticked 2 horror house sort of events. Not worth the price at all. I paid more than the entry prices for these events. Lines at all the rides move extremely slowly, it’s not very well managed at all. Disneyland has much more crowd but lines at every ride moves much faster than here. Overall, I don’t think it’s worth the money just for 2 good rides at the park. If any festival events are happening then I would suggest to avoid paying for it as it is overpriced and overcrowded with not much crowd control.

Visited on a Wednesday just before Halloween. Unfortunately the panda exhibit is closed until at least early 2025 - something that should have been informed to guests well ahead of time across their website et al. Because of this, you can’t even see the Red Pandas, as they are part of the large exhibit. Rather unfortunate as it’s not like the ticket price changes due to this foreseen circumstance. It left my partner rather sad as she was looking forward to seeing the pandas all year. It’s is understandable that the cubs and the two mew pandas need settling in, however this needs to be informed to future visitors rather than learning about it AT THE QUEUE ENTRANCE. We learned that the Halloween attractions were also not open during weekdays and only on weekends, so we were only privy to seeing the outer facades of the entrances. A lot of the rides on the summit were also closed, thankfully Hair Raiser was still running. Another unfortunate is that the ride operators did not allow my glasses - though I had a secure sport strap. So I essentially rode the ride blind 😩. Overall the visit was still good, just disappointing that a few areas that we anticipated were closed. You can make a great day of the park regardless. They need to work on visitor communication and fixing their app that funnily enough does not have a map.
