My experience at the park is basically a total disaster. I felt so enraged whenever I recall the events happened today evening.
To start with, I put my shoes beside the indoor wave pool when I went to play. After 5 minutes, I returned and it was stolen. (Iām pretty sure of it as I checked the CCTV footage) I got my $400 crocs stolen in just 20 minutes of arrival. The waterworld just seems to have no effective methods dealing with this problem as well as preventing it. The park recommended us to wear shoes (which I agree) but doesnāt provide us with a safe and secure place to place our shoes when playing. When at first I immediately told a staff nearby he just showed a āI donāt know I donāt careā attitude. The only fortunate things was that the staff members at the customer service desk were helpful and patient. Even so, the problem couldnāt be solved and eventually I had to spend a price higher than my ticket price ($175 sundown ticket) to buy a new pair of slippers in order not to walk away bare-foot. Anyone could just steal things and get away without any punishment. This is truly shocking, especially in such a civilised and modern city like Hong Kong.
Additionally, the prices and sizes of lockers are just ridiculous. A so-called āfamily lockerā, which is said to be suitable for 4 people, has only the space to store two bags. However, it costs for a staggering price of $200. There is clearly no adequate space for our shoes to be stored. We are risking of them being stolen.
Moreover, there were just too much people at the park and I had to line up for 2 hours just to play one facility. I ended up only being able to play 2 facilities. Furthermore, the area where I lined up is overcrowded with poor ventilation. 1.5 meters social distancing literally just didnāt exist (as there is no space) and most people are not wearing mask (which is totally understandable and reasonable). As a result, there is a very high risk of being infected by the coronavirus. A outbreak is such places could be massive and serious. The Waterworld should face these problems without any delay and carry out further actions to control the spread. To make matters worse, todayās weather is hot and humid. As I had to stand there for 2 straight hours, I suspect I got a heat stroke since Iām having headache now.
For me, today eveningās experience is extremely unsatisfactory. It is a complete waste of money and time going there, and Iām pretty sure this will be my last visit. Although itās true that different people will have different experiences, and I might coincidentally be the ālucky oneā suffering all these, I would still like to advice anyone planning to go to REALLY reconsider their decision. I hope that fewer people in the future would have this āmemorableā...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSpend a whole day at WaterWord with my friends yesterday! Honestly speaking, this is great new attraction for HK! The park smells brand-new and looks and feels well build. The facilities are great and overall the experience is well crafted.
We took the shuttlebus from Ocean Park MTR station, in 15 min they drive you around to the ocean-side where the park is located. Gaining entrance to the park is super easy if you've already purchased your tickets, locker rental & shuttle-bus online. You'll get a bunch of QR codes that you'll have to scan at the main gate and when you claim your locker. It's pretty easy to figure out how to use it but if you have any trouble a member of the team is there to help. The changing rooms and lockers are super spacious, bright, clean and tidy. (you can fit two standard backpacks into a "regular-size" locker, but if you need more space you can rent another one on the spot).
We did all the rides apart from Vortex, as that one had the longest wait-time (+40min) so recommend you to do this one early on!!
If you have a spare HK$350 then buy the 'splash-pass' which lets you skip the line at every single slide for an unlimited number of times. (We saw people ride the slide we were waiting for 2 times while we were standing in the regular queue.
Depending on the time of day, not all the queue areas are in the shade, so make sure you bring enough sun-screen!!
Quick shout-out to the slide-attendants, they were kind and fun and added to the experience by making jokes, giving your tube a spin before being pushed into the slide etc. awesome job team!
There are only 2 cafe's were you can purchase something to eat/drink. DO NOT expect much, the food was basic at best. The fries tasted like they were fried 45 min ago and looked pretty much the same... the shawarma wrap looked the least bad option on the menu, but as you can see in the photo below, does not live up the the expectation. We also tried the Taco's and Burger, but non of us would order these items again. Instead I'd bring a sandwich from home next time.
However you don't go here for the culinary experience, instead you want to ride these AMAZING slides they have, honestly they are really good! The view you get on a nice day is also pretty decent.
One final tip: You are still required to wear a mask when you're not in the water or on a slide, so each time you get in line, you are supposed to wear a mask, bring a water-proof bag to put it in when you're riding a slide or buy a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWinter season holiday review. (Why you should visit was water park in winter instead of summer)
So me and a couple friends came to water world during our winter break cause tickets were really cheap. I got it for like 50$ hkd for some winter student promotion. To sum it up, it was really fun and facilities are really clean and state of the art and best of all, barely anyone was there so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. However the only downside was the temperature and some parts were really cold, especially by the end. It just gradually becomes colder.
Majority of the park is indoors and there is heating and everything but even still, we felt a bit chilly in the water and in addition, we had to walk on outdoor stairs to reach the slides. They do have heaters on the stairs but don't really do much. But honestly for 50$, I can't complain much. The entering process was smooth alongside locker booking. (FYI, the lockers are smaller we expected so take that into consideration when renting).
I had heard in the summer seasons, you may have to wait up to an hour just to get to go down one slide but to our amazement, the park barely had any people and 90% of the time, there was no one in line waiting for the slides. The 10% were like 2-3 people infront of us. And of course no trouble finding tables and chairs. In the giant wave pool, there was maybe like 30 people inside at the peak. It could probably fit like 500 people easily. Very nice.
Food was decent but the price was quite good, compared to other amusement parks. And the staff, they were honestly so friendly and even gave us discount coupons. Very nice people.
To end it off, I would recommend going during winter seasons. Ticket prices are way cheaper, no crowds, no wait time, can relax without stressing about lines and seat finding, etc. So unless you're bad with cold weather or you're going there to soak up the sun, go during winter at least once.
But be warned of the rainbow slide. Turns out that thing finishes in an outside pool and we pretty much swam in an ice pool for 10 seconds. Needless to say, we were all...
