On my last day in Shenzhen, my flight didn’t depart until late. I’d heard that climbing Nanshan Mountain was a good activity in Shenzhen. I like hiking, so I decided to visit. I went to the airport first to check in my luggage, and also paid to store some of my hand luggage at the airport. Then I got the metro to SeaWorld metro station. I didn’t find any good guides on where I should start the hike, so I looked at the map and hoped for the best. It is not well sign posted at all. I walked up Yanshan Road, which was the right way to go. Walking up the street wasn’t great, there was no footpath, but at least the cars were moving slowly. Once in the park, the hike was great. It was paved the whole way. There was a lot of stairs. When I got to the top, a man was playing music on a gourd flute of some kind. The view and breeze at the top were very nice. I enjoyed spending some time in nature. I saw very few other people. There was a park ranger at the top and a store where you could buy water. I was surprised by the area around SeaWorld metro station as well. I expected I would be able to find a restaurant, but the place was pretty dead.
