We had a great afternoon with the Cempesina Dinner tour, which ended with the most exceptional dinner. We came 2 families, 4 kids and 4 adults. Kids ages 10-12. We were greeted by a guide that gave us a tour of the farm- it was very entertaining- the kids got to taste different plants and fruits and saw animals they raise on the farm. Everything was beautiful and super well maintained. We picked some herbs for dinner and learned a lot. Then we had a small activity for the kids and adults- making drinks out of a sugar cane, tasting some home made alcohol from a sugar cane (adults only :-)). We then moved to cooking area, where we made tortillas, a salad and rice. Dinner followed with many more options - all incredibly delicious. We were blown away by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the hosts. Highly...

WOW! This was the best activity I’ve done on my entire month-long trip in Costa Rica. We did a coffee tour but it was so much more than just coffee. We had a 2 hour tour of the entire farm, while smelling and tasting herbs and fruits along the way. Our guide described the entire coffee production process from start to finish and what’s unique about the history of coffee plantations in Costa Rica. We got to see farm animals and more than 100 different kinds of plants on their property. Then we drank the coffee with a little meal at the end. For the Christmas season, it was tamales. So yummy. It was such a lovely day and a really reasonable price for the...

Nasarette was one of the best guides we’ve ever had— this girl deserves a raise! She was extremely knowledgeable and kind and she even offered us a ride back into town during a storm when our phones wouldn’t connect. We lucked out and it was just our party of two on the tour with her, so the experience was very personalized. We learned about medicinal and edible plants on the finca, tasted fruits we’d never heard of, made sugarcane juice, ground cacao, and roasted coffee. It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend this tour over the others in La Fortuna. We returned later on our trip to buy lots of...

This was definitely more than just a cooking class! The tour of the farm to start the experience was so fun. Their little cat Marshmallow joined us and he was a welcome addition to the tour. We made sugarcane juice and spent time learning about Costa Rican culture and their traditional way of living. When it came time to cook we had the whole place to ourselves so our teacher was able to give us her full attention and she was so sweet. We ended the night with delicious food and some cute purchases from the gift shop!

This is a beautiful farm! We went on a very interesting and interactive tour focused on coffee. We got to walk through the farm and see many types of plants with interesting stories and information about each type, then participate in the roasting process, and finally enjoy a cup of coffee with some local, freshly made treats. We even got to participate in the grinding of a sugar cane stock and take shots of the water from the sugar cane! I bet the chocolate tours from this farm are just as good!
