Costa Rica is such an incredibly beautiful country! Between relaxing on the beach, or hiking waterfalls it's a wonderful place to relax and decompres, but if you're looking for an exciting adventure away from all the busy beaches, then look no further than Tico Loco Adventures in Quepos!

Just as the name suggests, their team of expertly trained and incredibly knowledgeable local raft guides will take you on a crazy adventure unlike any you've ever experienced!

On our way to the put in for the Naranjo River we drove through lush tropical rainforest, teeming with beautiful flora, and wildlife. All of the guides had us laughing til we cried, had an awesome wealth of knowledge on the area, and an unparalleled level of professionalism not frequently seen in this industry.

When we arrived to our destination, the tranquility of jungle and babbling river we saw belied the awesome power and raging rapids of the naranjo! While obviously nothing to take lightly, I wasn't for one moment worried for my safety! All the guides on our trip were very entertaining, but also serious about safety and support, should someone come out of the boat.

Being paddlers ourselves, our group recognized immediately the level of skill required by the guides for this section of river, and were not disappointed. From surfing big hydraulics, to the ease with which we avoided the hazards, the rapids were technical and exciting, and kept us on the edge of our thwart! All thanks the the awesome guides at Tico loco! (Don't forget to tip your guide, they're working hard for it!)

My only complaint is that Google won't let me give Tico Loco adventures the 11 out of 5 stars they deserve!

After our trip down the Naranjo(at high water in the rainy season) I wouldn't consider going with any company except Tico Loco...

I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my awful experience with Tico Loco Adventures to warn others. My friends and I were looking forward to a thrilling rafting trip, but our adventure was anything but. When we arrived, things quickly went downhill. My friend was forced to carry the rafts to the water herself. Despite her best efforts, she slipped and ended up breaking two bones. This accident led to an immediate and painful end to our trip as she had to fly home for medical treatment.

Tico Loco Adventures promised us a partial refund since we never actually got to experience the rafting due to the accident. That promise was a lifeline, but it turned into another disappointment. Michael Esparza, who was supposed to handle our case, led us on for weeks, giving us false hope and empty promises. Eventually, he stopped responding to our texts altogether.

Our experience was not only marred by the accident but compounded by the company's failure to follow through on their word. For anyone considering a rafting trip, I strongly advise against choosing Tico Loco Adventures. Their lack of responsibility and customer service is appalling. Avoid this company...

I’ve rafted all over, and this happens to be the best rafting outfit I’ve gone with. The excitement and energy upon arrival, and the delicious typical Costa Rican breakfast was a great start. Then, when you’re asked “do you want to jump of a cliff first?” ......um....YES!! The guides taught us about the area and showed us different trees and plants along the drive up into the mountains. The rafting guides were as thorough as one could be with making sure you feel comfortable and confident in the trip. Safety check and talk before entering the water, then buckle up!! This River was even more thrilling than anticipated. I would have done another run if I could’ve. Plenty of exciting and challenging moments, all with the safety of a very knowledgeable and experienced guide, and a safety support kayak following behind. This was a major highlight of our week in Costa Rica, and definitely a day I’ll talk about for years to come with my friends. A cold beer waiting for you when you’re done, and a delicious lunch back at the rafting outfit in Quepos finished up the experience. Thank you guys for the great and...

Fantastic tour group from the owner Roy to all the guys working hard to make this a safe and fun experience. My wife and I never felt in danger even with this being our first time rafting. Roy was very kind and made sure we were satisfied with the whole trip. Communication was fantastic throughout the whole trip. Roberto was our guide and he was simply amazing and made us feel safe and cared for the entire time. Thank you so much for a great first time on a raft even with the more difficult rapids we went through. We went in April 2024 and the waters were perfect and we had a great thrilling time. Please book with these guys and bring some extra cash so you can reward all the great guides that make this kind of experience possible. They share tips as a group and I implore you to reward them for risking their bodies to keep everyone safe. They also have some that takes photos and they take a ton and you can buy them if you like. I thought it was a decent deal for the time and risk their cameraman has to go through to get the best action shots.

My family of 13 wanted to do white water rafting. With the recent rain over a few days we had to change the river we wanted to do for one the guides recommended would be safer and just as fun and it was! You MUST trust your guide and they are all fantastic and very safety and fun oriented. Our guides name was Romain and made us feel safe and it was so much fun with him. Our group of 13 split into 2 groups of 6 and 7 and was just blast, we had kids, young adults, and older adults and everyone had fun. They even brought fruit and cookies and water for when we were done so we could have a snack. We did the Naranjo river and it was gorgeous. Would highly highly recommend this company. If you pay cash it’s cheaper since cards they charge 13%. Some parts of river you get really wet and other parts it’s calm so you can eat and you will get wet but it’s refreshing.
