Bahia Azul — Restaurant in Quepos

Ok so this restaurant is a mixed bag for us. The outside patio is definitely the place to be while dining here. The inside tables are dark and lack any kind of ambience. I felt like I was at a bowling alley. The aromas from the bay and river are not pleasant but that was because we were inside. When we walked out through the patio, it was bright, lively and did not have a strong fish smell. The food was good. Three of us had appetizers (chicken nachos and chicken fingers) and they were typical but not memorable. The other person had the garlic grilled chicken and it was exceptional!!! Best we have had in Quepos!! The chef's garlic sauce is definitely why I would go back to dine there. Plus the patio is fun, so we saw. I would only return if we could dine out on the patio. We had two different steaks and they were both good. Both were a decent size and cooked well with a nice sauce. The ratings isn’t higher because it took about an hour to get any food which is slow even by Costa Rican standards. The place wasn’t busy and it didn’t look like many others were ordering food. It was about 20 minutes after ordering when the waitress came back to ask how we like our steaks cooked. This should have been a warning sign but we thought that meant they must be about to get cooked and would be over shortly. It took at least another 30 minutes for the food to come after that.

On the waterfront of Quepos, this restaurant offers seating with views of the ocean and the marina. Boats go by all day long, and you can watch fishermen at work. Many locals eat here for its quality and prices. It a great value for a sit down lunch or dinner, and a wonderful place to meet up with people for a great meal. Parking is handicapped accessible, but fills up quickly during peak hours, however, it's possible to park on the street, outside of the restaurant parking lot.
