Unbelievably magical experience, with different levels of difficulty, so it can both be a fun activity that most people can enjoy and a worthy challenge for experienced climbers. Also they offer a shuttle service, so I got a pickup & dropoff from my hostel (25 min away!) for only $7 more.
I was the only person who signed up for the 2pm climb, so I got a private tour from Darnell & Junior, (and their dog Kronos). Darnell came up the tree with me & was very kind & encouraging. He told me lots about the tree & its history and some about his family’s history there as well. Meanwhile on the ground, Junior took some seriously incredible photos of my ascent & descent.
This is a family-run business & it’s clear these guys are doing what they love, which feels great to support as a traveler.
Next time I visit I definitely want to try the Night Walk, where you get to watch the sun set from the top of the tree, see some nocturnal wildlife, & end the evening by sharing a meal.
Thank you so much for this incredible experience, guys!...
Read moreWe are thrilled that we booked this unforgettable tree climbing & forest night walk experience in Monteverde! Our guide Yuniher was vibrant, friendly and so knowledgeable about wildlife! The tour started with us climbing up a 132 ft Ficus tree which Yuniher guided us through seamlessly while taking amazing photos of our ascent along the way! He went over the history of the tree along with some wildlife facts about the surrounding area and had a great eye for spotting various creatures in the forest during our night walk, including a scorpion, a blue morpho butterfly, glass winged butterfly, lesson’s motmot, black Guan, leaf cutter ants, a lizard and a side striped palm pit viper, while helping us get amazing photos of them through his telescope lens. The tour ended with a delicious dinner at Kapi Kapi, a place owned by his friend. Would definitely recommend this experience to someone looking for a unique...
Read moreMy family of four did Treetop climbing with Junior and Darnell on August 1st and had a great time. It was one of my favorite things we did in Costa Rica because it is pretty unique. We first climbed the tree on the inside because that is the easiest way to get up. That was easy but it was cool to be inside a ficus tree. We then belayed down to the ground and decided to go for the hardest way, which is climbing the outside of the tree with the metal posts they put in the tree. It starts easy but then the posts get farther apart and you have to use the tree itself. My teen boys and I did fairly well but did not make it up all the way and we are very athletic. Junior and Darnell told us that only 3% of people who try make it all the way to the platform. My husband was in that 3%, he made it all the way. Junior was super nice and...
