This place is absolutely worth the five stars.
We had just arrived in town and realized it was country side, with not many stores around. I looked up food near me and saw a review that said they had come here twice in 3 days. I didnât really want to sift through reviews, so we pulled the trigger and just went with it.
I cannot even begin to describe this experience. It was like getting dinner from a private chef.
We pulled up and saw the lights on. We were warmly greeted by the owners. We sat down at a very intimate table. I got a glass of wine, it was delicious.
We shared a salmon appetizer and my friend who doesnât even like salmon loved it. The meals came out and each one was filled with so much flavor. It was hands down the best meal Iâve had in Costa Rica so far.
At the end we had dessert and the owner came to chat with us. He told us his story about how he decided to open a restaurant in his house. The family was so sweet and I loved how intimate the entire vibe was.
It was really cool to feel like we were having a family dinner, versus going out to a restaurant. Again, I cannot stress how delicious everything was. It was perfect from start to finish and I wish I could leave 10,000 stars because thatâs simply what it deserves. Donât miss out...
Read moreI would give this place 12 stars if I could. The food was, I kid you not, one of the best meals I have ever had in MY LIFE. It wasn't just the best meal I had in Costa Rica, it's honestly top 5 meals I have ever had anywhere. This was where we ate dinner on our first night in Costa Rica. We were travel weary and hungry from a long day so we walked to Kapi Kapi from nearby Higueron Rooftop Camping where we were staying. Being our first stop in Costa Rica, it could have been plantain chips and rice and we would have been more than happy...but Kapi Kapi blew our minds. We started with seared yellowfin tuna over a delicious grain bed, and an Imperial Original. The owner (pictured on the menu) had his wife, daughter, and other family members working the front-of-house and kitchen with him. The owner spoke the best English of all of them, but we could communicate with everyone with our minimal Spanish and their pretty good English. After our meal, we asked the owner and his wife about recommendations of what to do in Monteverde and they gave us some really great ideas of where to start. Do not miss Kapi Kapi if you...
Read moreWe were recommended to Kapi Kapi by others at our resort. We stayed in La Fortuna, but decided to day trip to Monteverde for the cloud forest and Kapi Kapi, it was WELL WORTH IT! I definitely suggest staying overnight and enjoying this area. I have Celiac Disease and had whatsapp ahead to make sure weâd be accommodated accordingly. We were able to sit on the patio and watch the beautiful skies turn hazy with clouds as a storm rolled it, it was a gorgeous atmosphere to enjoy dinner. We had Deivi, as our waiter and he was super friendly, fun, and knowledgeable. We enjoyed getting to know him and some details about how Kapi Kapi got started. I loved being surrounded by their family and the boys playing out front. We enjoyed 2 of their âdaily specialsâ which was unreal for both of us. I had oxtail and my husband had their tomahawk, which was huge and delicious. If youâre in the area, or if youâre not, make sure to check this place out because you will not regret it! Thank you to Kapi Kapi, and their entire family and staff!...
