The only correct hours are on Google, sadly I thought they opened at 1pm (13:00), not the correct time of 11am. This is an easy walk from the bus stop (I am 70 and it was a sunny day), or bicycle (uphill not too steep), and of course by car.
Family run (hard working husband, wife, 2 boys, & Dexter the not so hard-working dog) and wine making has been in his family 400 years, what a legacy. They also have apartments above the tasting terrace, and I can see why folks return year after year.
The view from the tasting terrace is fabulous, the host attentive and passionate about his craft, "the snack" (folks this is not an airplane snack, this is a fabulous Charcuterie board) prepared with love by the wife. I tried 4 wines with "the snack" and left with happy memories and a bottle of Grk (only 4,000 produced annually) and a bottle of Posip (1,000 - 1,400/annually). The passion and hard work are in every taste and sip you take. Grk grapes are grown on only 1 side of the island and rarely exported, making Winery Sabulum's wines even more precious, well worth finding room in your suitcase. Cash Only BTW.
Next time I visit, I plan on renting an apartment and spend my evenings sipping fabulous wine on the apartment balcony after a day of kayaking, hiking, biking, or lounging on the sandy beach.
Tip: The Arriva bus station is right outside of Korcula Old Town, with a great schedule - 1.75 euro 1/way - 4 wines w/ the snack 25 euro - water taxi back to Korcula Old Town 9 euro. Bottles 20 euro/each - I felt like this was a better deal than the 95-euro Wine Tour (3 wineries) from Korcula. But...
Read moreA truly amazing little new winery. You get a chance to taste some really great wines. When we were there, we tasted a glass of Rose, Plavac Mali and the famous only in Lumbarda found wine Grk. The host Ante and his wife were so friendly and pleasant and it really felt like a nice family atmosphere there. Plus, Ante gave us in depth insight into Lumbarda wines history and their wine making process which was an amazing touch and left us with some great and interesting facts (which we always love to hear). We ordered a food platter with local produce which was truly delicious and it was more than enough for the two of us. All in all we wholeheartedly recommend visiting this amazing small and cosy winery that offers beautiful scenery, neat and beautiful exterior, amazing wines and olive oil plus more than friendly hosts! Don’t skip this place when you’re on...
Read moreAmazing winery with a view to die for. All the reviews are accurate, maybe even a bit understated.
Recently opened (summer ‘22) and run by a local family with 300 years of family wine experience. They’re related to the family that owns Popic Winery nearby (which is also excellent).
We did a wine sampler and a variety plate for two, really three, people.
Great service, great wine, great food. All the varietals were fantastic, but we loved their white “Grk” the best. Dry, with lots of floral and fruit notes. Usually love reds, but love their white, so smooth.
We also went to the other nearby wineries like vites. This one was our favorite. If you have to pick one, make it Winery Sabulum!
P.s. the winery also rents out apartments. Will have to check this out on our return trip. Amazing views!
P.s.s extremely clean...
