Yes, come here to get cigars. There are many different brands, sizes, and flavors. There's something for everyone here. The prices range from $20 and up. They sell single cigars and boxes. The feel of the place is outstanding when you first walk in, but they will stop you from taking pictures until you walk towards the back. I'm not sure why, and I didn't try to figure that out. There's a man that's been, uh, rolling cigars for decades in there. Look at my pictures and you'll see him seated with a wax replica of himself standing behind him. In the back room, they have the longest cigars.I think you can find anywhere. They must be fifteen, maybe twenty feet long. Look at my pictures, and you'll see a photo of them. It's a really cool place with a really good vibe. So, if you're looking for cigars, stop in here...
Read moreMy rating is more to do with the evening ceremony and not the fort (place) as such. Attended the ceremony at 8.30 pm and found it be over hyped and nothing but below average. The parade crew were laughing, lacked professionalism, coordination and rhythm. The ceremony was nothing more than a bunch of people dressed in army attire coming together to fire a Canon shot.
Overall - La Cabana fortress is built magnificently. I was expecting to learn more about the history of the place but didn't come across anything useful. The place is a lot commercialised for a historic place - flea market, restaurant and the ceremony - all seemed to be just focused on monetizing from the tourist footfall and not really add any true value to the historic experience. It costs CUC 8 per person to enter the place - low...
Read moreThey need a better way to organize people around the celebration because if I hadn't spoken up, it could have been ruined for everyone by some obnoxious tourists. Be mindful to get a front row seat otherwise you may be forced to wait for 20-30 minutes just to have someone in front of you obnoxiously lift their partner onto their shoulders who record with their go pro. No matter how tall you stand or even on a cannon (like I did), you can't see over those types of people. Avoid it by waiting around an hour or even two earlier if you can because some people are just rude. Ceremony is 15 minutes long but well worth the wait. Shopkeepers do haggle and many are selling the same items so keep walking if you don't like the...
