Havana-nanana Mini-Vlog! 🇨🇺 here’s how to spend 3 days in the beautiful city: We arrived in the evening so I won’t count that as a day… but check into your Air BnB (also known as a Casa Particulare) we stayed at Grana BnB which was sooo lovely, highly recommend! We didn’t waste much time after checking in and went straight out to enjoy Old Havana, the live music and the mojitos 😜 Day 1: Have breakfast at your Casa, you’ll find the best breakfast is normally at your BnB! Spend the morning exploring the streets - it’s such a beautiful city that it’s worth spending a few hours just getting lost on the streets. Have lunch at @restauranteantojos - they have the BEST chicken and potato croquettes and their hosie mojito is delicious! Spend the afternoon visiting the cigar factories and Havana Club museum - the rum tasting particularly is great value for money ($10 each) and you get to try some really premium rum. In the evening go for a walk by the sea and catch the sunset at the Capitolio. Go for dinner and finish off by playing with some of the very cute street cats ❤️ Day 2: Have coffee at El Cafe, a new and trendy cafe. My frappe was so good (still dreaming of it now) I then highly recommend trying some of the street food - the corn with mayonnaise and street pizzas are my favourite (the pizza is also $1) make sure to enjoy your balcony at your Casa, maybe have a cigar and you might even by serenaded as musicians walk by! Towards the evening you need to do a vintage car ride, it’s a great way to see the city and get some great photos! I recommend starting the evening then by visiting Floridita and Le Bodeguita, Ernest Hemmingway said they have the best daiquiris and mojitos respectively and they didn’t disappoint. If you’re hungry stop at Cha Cha for good live music, great atmosphere and superb food. Day 3: If you fancy getting out of the city for the day head to Viñales. It’s a 2 hour drive away and here you can experience the cigar farms as well as some of their local specialties like guava rum, honey from the ground, and sugar cane juice. Make sure to have a local traditional lunch in the hills, go for a carriage ride and explore the caves!

Go for the cortados, mojitos, and history. And if you decide to eat then just take it as an adventure and enjoy. Don't expect first world grade and be all disappointed. In a country where people still receive rations, this is pretty darn good. The place is charming, service is great and very friendly. Its a very popular spot. but they won't rush you out to turn tables. Walls are covered in notes and drawings; a visual feast. And oh ya... that drunk rascal Ernest Hemingway apparently frequented. They have a mural of him behind the bar. Its a treat to visit Cuba and see things stuck in time but not; the juxtaposition is fascinating and everywhere you look. So sit back, throw back a few mojitos, enjoy the moment and time you are in!

This is one of two super touristy places made famous by the fact that it was where Hemingway drank, in this case Mojitos. When we walked by the first time the place was packed (and it's tiny) so we decided to head to dinner first, then come back later for a night cap. There was only about 7 people in the bar when we came back, but unfortunately it was because the band was wrapping up their set. Still. It was enough time for us to enjoy a signature mojito, and dance to an excellent band. The place is so small that the band is practically dancing with you. The bartender was really friendly, especially for such a touristy places. He kept topping up Marks cocktail. Prices were also reasonable.

As per usual in Cuba, drinks for the win, food for the ... On an all serious note, the food wasn't terrible. I was given a limited choice of around 5 dishes on a menu of 10 plus. I'm finding this a common happening in Havana. I went with the pork steak. It came with cold vegetables and the classic rice and beans which were just fine. The pork was slightly dry but was helped by a garnish of spring onions - definitely not terrible. Where things go tremendously downhill is the side dish of roast potatoes - just not edible. Sweet, sweet sweet. I can't stand overly sweet potatoes. I'm yet to have a good potato in Havana and I'm convinced that if they can't get it right here - there's very little to no hope elsewhere. (UPDATE: I have now been to Vinales and Playa Larga and I can happily report that good potatoes can be found!) On a plus, the service and atmosphere are pretty much perfect - although for the second half of my meal the live music which had welcomed me in a such a classically Bondesque fashion had stopped which was a shame. All the waitors (other than one old guy who was possibly the owner) were jolly and served with grace. Another high will forever be with me - of course the Mojito. As expected it was amazing. IMPORTANT - If you're paying by card, the rates will be alot higher than expected as it's the official rate for CUP - USD. I was expecting $13 but was charged $36. Bring CUP cash!

I believe anyone who is visiting Havana would make a stop here given the history behind it. Every time I passed it and then when I eventually visited it, it was always packed and crowded. I loved the ambiance, decor, the nostalgia and the feeling this place evoked. The music that was played during our visit was great. But the food was disappointing. I had the shrimp dish. The shrimp were large in quantity but lacked flavor and was under cooked. But from my friends I heard that the pork dish was amazing. They also didn't have all the drinks that were on the menu. Overall a place that I will visit to just tick it off a must do list. But that's about it. Doesn't warrant a return unless it's for a quick Mojito break!

Very crowded place, and the attendant who takes payment wearing a guayabera was super rude! He said we could pay with card only no cash. When I asked him if there was any other way, he said duh, no! That’s no way to treat a customer. I thought it was ridiculous knowing that in most places in Cuba they only take cash and no cards. He pretty much turned us away. When we starting leaving, a (nice) guy by the door helped us out and sent us upstairs where you can sit on a table and order your drink, and Pay with Cash which the other guy did not mention. Anyway I had the best mojito ever!!! but the place was very crowded and hot and the customer service doesn’t meet the standards of this place at all. Cheers!
