Copenhagen Distillery does not know the meaning of “good customer service”.
I booked the gin making experience as a birthday gift for my wife. We booked a hotel to be close to the event and were looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the day before the event, my wife came down ill with COVID. She was not feeling well herself, but more importantly, we did not want to infect anyone else, particularly someone elderly or immunocompromised.
We contacted both TrueStory (the booking agency) and Copenhagen Distillery. Copenhagen Distillery said: “Unfortunately, it’s out of our hands. We follow TrueStorys guidelines, and therefor there is nothing I can do unless it 72 hours before the event.”
This was a LIE!!
While Copenhagen Distillery was lying to me, TrueStory told me that within the 72 hour period, they will happily change the bookings with written approval from Copenhagen Distillery. Of course, Copenhagen Distillery could have done something. In fact, it could not have been easier - just a simple e-mail to TrueStory asking that the booking be changed.
Rebooking tastings, tours and other events is what other distilleries commonly do. I have had a really good experience with the tour at Absolute Vodka with this: I put in the wrong date in the on-line booking and showed up to the tour only to find that I already missed it. I was really embarrassed and it was 100% my fault. Absolute Vodka just let me join the tour - no questions, problems or issues. That is good customer service. Copenhagen Distillery has a lot to learn from other distilleries on how to treat their customers.
Despite multiple attempts, Copenhagen Distillery continued to lie to me and to hide behind TrueStory. The CEO and founder, Henrk Brinks even wrote to me and said "It does not make any difference" if I had been lied to. It does make a difference and there is no excuse for lying to your customers.
The implication also is that they think we should have attended the event even though my wife was infectious with COVID. Copenhagen Distillery should make it easy for customers to rebook if they do not want sick and infectious people attending their events. But they do not care if customers become sick or die. All they care about is getting your money.
There are other companies out there with good corporate values. Spend your money with them and stay away from...
Read moreThe distillation workshop is fantastic and an incredible bargain. I had such a great experience with Johan, learning the basics of distillation of gin and aquavit, and trying some of the distillery’s spirits.
After that you choose up to six herbs or spices (from at least 40 options) and distill your own spirit!
I left with a 500ml bottle of my own creation (a cardamom and caraway spirit).
This experience is unlike anything I’ve seen at any other distillery and a super fun evening. I can’t recommend it more highly.
Johan himself was knowledgeable and took great pride in the craft and was a great teacher.
If you’re on the fence, do it. I will remember this for the...
Read moreTried the Cocktail Course. Overall, it was a good and fun experience but a few things pulled me down to 4 stars; we were about 15 people at the same time which was a bit too many - too much waiting time and less attention from the teacher. We made classic cocktails, but using their own spirits, which meant restricted to gin and aquavit. Didn't learn much general knowledge about cocktails, but rather more specific stuff related to the three cocktails we made. Would have loved to learn more about the difference between glass shapes, stirring methods, usage of ice etc. Otherwise...
