Again, grading on a curve based on location, but I had a 2.5 hour Layover at the train station and decided to visit this place which is a very short walk from the station. We'll worth the walk. The museum is very well organized and you can feel the history when your there. It use to be a royal residence from what I was told, among many other things. Great staff and they have lockers to store your bags while your visiting the museum. A little pricy, I think that I paid 22 euros, but it was worth it. Good place to visit if you have the time and it sits right next to a beautiful scenic river and walkway with benches to stop and soak up the view.

I was positively surprised by the exhibit and really enjoyed it. The story and history of the castle was interesting and well presented. But what really created a special experience was the current exhibit of the Royal Danish dinnerware with hand painted local plants and complete set of the Flora Danica dinnerware from the king's birthday dinner in 1808. The display was.beautiful and the craftsmanship is amazing. The exhibit of the "Dannnebrog" royal ship inside the castle was interesting and impressive in it's design but still felt a little out of place and blocked the view of some of the fire restaurations which I would have preferred to see.

Kolding Castle or Kolding hus is a Danish royal castle in the town of Kolding located in Denmark. This castle is a Historic beauty in Denmark which was found in the 13th century and has been expanded and has been through many wars and even caught on fire. The original king that lived in the castle was King Christoffer III and has been passed down by many generations. There isn't much interior design to it but very old fashioned, but the over all scale of the castle is immense enough to make someone hurl. We really recommend that you visit Kolding Castle as it is a historical monument to Denmark and loved and enjoyed by many.

Very impressive museum in a restored medieval castle. Spent about 3 hours here for 110 dkk and worth it. Can explore almost the entire castle at your own leisure and virtually all curation is in Danish, German and English. Restoration has been done in a way that respects the original but uses modern architectural design to highlight what is left of the original castle that burnt down 200 years ago. Some fun activities for kids mixed in. Impressive views of the surrounding town from throughout although when we were there the weather was terrible. Recommend coming not in winter to really get the most out of it.

Very interesting story of the castle itself. The portrait paintings of Frederik V are amazing, pay attention to the first painting by the French artist and then his next painting. An astonishing difference, one looking very caricatural and the other like a photoshop of our modern times. Not to be missed the trial of clothes from the 16th /17th centuries, for free. The castle burn down in the 19th. Century , then rebuilt around 40 years ago. An incredible work of reconstruction. Look at the amazing wood work columns in the interior inspired by some gothic churches interiors.

If one likes visiting historical places, this is a nice place to go. The new additions to the castle is actually really beautiful and eye-catching. There is also a nice collection of souvenirs to buy. However, as a first time visitor, I could not find much information about the history behind the castle until I accidentally ran into a big screen that explained the history of the castle. Only after that it got interesting. Otherwise, one would wonder why there is a mixture of modern and old architecture, and many other questions.
