A really interesting trip to Randers Rainforest! Viewing the animals in a beautiful setting in which they roamed free, was a very unique experience for me, my son (4 years) and wife. The caretakers were nice and very good at explaining the different animals and their behaviour to kids as an example I can mention the weekly feeding of the Red piratefish in the south American dome; they were feed with dead rats and the caretaker took his time explaining how the rat would be eaten and when he fed the rat to the piratefish he made the kids count to 20 while the rat was being eaten, afterwards he pulled the remaining rat (half body+tail) up so the kids could see it. This entire feeding helped my son understand how predators eat the sick and dead and help clean up nature.
So this was an amazing experience.
Price level is in the low range compared to other zoo' in Denmark.
Food prices in the cafeteria is also in the low range compared to other cafeteria in Denmark + in this cafeteria you can enjoy your ORGANIC meal while watching 2 real life Jaguars.
Be warned! You need to wear light clothing regardless of the outdoor season! And asthmatics must have their inhaler. Both are due to the humidity and temperature (being a rainforest environment).
Your kids will love it and so will the parents (dad's have fun while wife and/or daughter go through the bat cave with free...
Read moreCame here March 26th with my Danish Boyfriend.
I absolutely loved everything about the place, and thankfully I was smart to tell my boyfriend to grab some water before we started moving about. The indoor areas for Africa and Asia were very humid - so the water was a much needed resource.
Also be advised for those who dislike snakes and spiders, there is an area between Africa and Asia where there is a 'Snake Temple'. Like the rest of the animals (asides the outdoors ones) these snakes will slither all over the place freely, thankfully the tarantula is behind glass (a HUGE relief to me!).
The Aquarium was beautiful with many different species of fish on display - just a pity there was no jellyfish as they are my favourite aquatic creature to see - and leading on from there the South America area was quite humid, but allowed us to get up close to some very adorable species of monkeys.
The outdoors area consisted of a Jaguar pen, a few other animal exhibits and a sort of "Nowadays" section with farm animals. I have also learnt that I quite like Wolverines and that pigs truly are very noisy eaters.
The food at the café was also decent and very fairly priced, and there was a lot of options in the gift shop with something for everyone!
Can't wait to go here...
Read moreIt's a really nice zoo with a lot to offer. First of all, be sure to be there early in the morning (10-15 minutes before opening). Otherwise, parking will be a serious problem. We arrived 20 minutes past the opening time, and the parking was about 60% full. They have some special storage rooms for small and big strollers, which is very useful. There are also small storage units for things like backpacks, jackets, etc, but they work with 2 kr. Coins, so don't waste any other type. If you don't bring coins along, you can still exchange money for some special coins to use at the gift shop. Be careful what you need to store and what you take, because you need to use again 2 kr. Coins, every time you open and close the locker. Nice inside restaurant, with a big area to sit, eat and relax. If you have some snacks or sandwiches from home, there is an outside area that you can use for that. There are small "games" you can play with your entourage, like every time you enter an area, you can try to find and identify all the animals. The tigers enclosure is next to the picnic area, so if you're lucky, you can enjoy your sandwich, while the tiger enjoys his meal. It's a really good place to spend your day in. That's about all the time you need to...
