Very beautiful palace with lovely gardens and a seaside walk. There's plenty of things to do, such as renting bikes, having picnics, and making use of the basketball court. I would recommend this to anyone staying in Alex.
I took off one star because the maintenance isn't perfect, and some of the sidewalks aren't clean with piles of dirt and leaf debris laying about. Please be careful riding the bicycles, too, as some of the designated paths are a little steep and could pose potential hazards. It is worth visiting and enjoying a historic monument and know more about royal Egypt. Great improvement in the parking area, you have to pay 25 L.E per person for entrance and 50 to park your car and more if you decide to take a golf cart to where you desire to go. The place is still under experimental opening after improvement, so missing a lot with regards to cleanliness, no rubbish bins so people throw garbage almost everywhere, no signs to. Guide you where to go and no map, and similarly no one to ask in most places. Lighting in some places is not functional or missing though new!!! Hopefully in the future it would be a better experienceThe best park (if not the only!) in Alexandria & quite possibly Egypt as well... As you probably know the garden was part of the palace, which was the summer retreat of the last Egyptian king (as well as Sadat). The landscape is very elaborate & the palace is really beautiful (please note that there's no public access to the palace buildings). All pathways are paved, many trees are illuminated & there is room for everyone. The coast is pretty & there's a lake too. The whole park is nearly one square kilometre & is open 24h. Egypt may not be the cleanest place you've seen, but the park is reasonably tidy & well maintained. Unfortunately, there are several hotels & other newly added buildings that don't belong there... Like all other gardens (beaches, etc) in Egypt you have to buy a ticket to get there. Believe it or not (please don't tell anyone!) the price for everyone (including tourists!) is the same - EGP25)Under construction /10
The one and only Montaza Palace is a an Architectural gem of the Belle Époque built by khedivi Abbas Helmy the Second 1892 … but it was rebuilt with a Gothic Florentin style again by King Foad 1926 through the famous architect Ernesto Ferrucci like the famous palace of Florence … the Palace is initial name was Haramlek palace then the people named it Montaza palace … a lot of Egyptian movies where shot there in the amazing Gardens of Montaza … the king created a dear forest full of trees for the purpose of hunting … Now the big park is partially closed till 2024 for the opening of the new gardens renovation and the new chalets and the new big Nariman Hotel … that is what we have been told in the siteVery beautiful palace with lovely gardens and a seaside walk. There's plenty of things to do, such as renting bikes, having picnics, and making use of the basketball court. I would recommend this to anyone staying in Alex.
