Cool thing to do in Santa Ana. We followed the instructions of the other reviews and had a great time. At the main square, enter the green building (I circled it red in the picture) and immediately turn left to the door that leads into the tourism office. They are very kind and the process is very quick (2min). At the Old Art School we couldn't see the guard first, so we passed the entrance and found him inside.

Nice little place to visit for free. Don’t expect too much - you’ll be through in 10 minutes and it is a bit worn down (garbage and construction materials laying around). However, since it is free (tickets available at the main square only) and the walk there takes you through town, I think it’s a really nice little stop in Santa Ana! Late afternoon light is best.

We're not able to visit as the tourist staff in the library said it's closed after rain. A little confided why we'd need to sign a waiver of we aren't allowed to take the risk but there's probably more to it that I don't know. We went and looked at the outside of it though and it's a spectacular building. I just wish we could have gone inside 😔

Had a great visit today. Ignore the "not open" "guarded" and "couldn't get in" reviews. Thank you to the reviewers who tell you how to get in. Super easy. Get permission to slip in the main square opposite the theater, just inside the library on the left. Took 2 minutes. Walked over, the guard let us in and we had a lovely walk round. It is just a ruin, but having glimpses of just how grand it would have been and the history behind it was very enjoyable. My wife is an artist and found it both fascinating, a little sad and inspirational all at...
