Christianskirkjan is a truly delightful church with an inspiring history. During our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Alexander, who shared his extensive knowledge and kindly handed us his meticulously prepared information booklets to take away. One remarkable feature is the fresco, which originates from a previous Danish church in 1901, and was preserved and incorporated into this church especially built for it in Klaksvik in 1913.
The stone font, estimated to pre-date Christianity by 1500-2000 years old, is a magnificent artifact that adds to the church's charm. The boat in the roof also holds a poignant story of the Faroese sailors during the war.
I highly recommend going down to the lower ground floor, where you'll find an astonishing wooden art installation consisting of 5000 individually carved and painted wood pieces depicting the story of Jesus. Due to restrictions, there are limited photos available of the art online, and they do not convey its true import. It must be seen for real.

There is a good story behind that vessel in this particular church - bringing luck to those that used it (and survived). Great painting at the altar wall, also with its own story. Try to look for the brochure at the entrance or ask local staff for commentary.
Also, plenty of parking space around the building. Watch the opening hours, 5pm is closed. Sometimes closed for private sessions, information available at tourist office nearby...
