Our visit to Château de Pommard in Beaune was nothing short of great. The stunning estate, with its beautiful vineyards and historic charm, provided the perfect setting for an unforgettable wine-tasting experience.
What truly made our visit stand out was our guide, Xavier. His knowledge of Burgundy wines and the history of the château was remarkable. Xavier’s passion for winemaking was evident in every detail he shared, from the intricate terroirs to the art of blending and aging. He had a natural ability to make complex concepts accessible, engaging, and, most importantly, enjoyable.
The wines themselves were exquisite. Each tasting was thoughtfully curated, showcasing the best that Château de Pommard has to offer. The rich, full-bodied reds were a highlight, with the unique characteristics of each vintage and parcel coming through beautifully.
Château de Pommard offers more than just a tasting; it’s an immersive journey into the heart of Burgundy winemaking, and Xavier’s expertise truly elevated the experience. Whether you’re a seasoned wine enthusiast or just beginning to explore, a visit here is an...
Read moreI have been living in France and working in the wine industry here for over a year and have had the opportunity to experience many great wine tastings (free) in the Burgundy region. I was extremely disappointed with our experience at Chateau de Pommard. The location is beautiful and the staff were friendly and well informed but it is certainly not worth the 18€ per person to taste their wine. We tasted 5 or 6 of their wine offerings, the wine glasses were not particularly clean and the amount served was extremely minimal compared to many other tastings that I have experienced. I agree with previous comments that it is a tourist trap for people that are not well informed about other tastings on offer in the region. Sorry Château de Pommard but I would give the experience a 1 star rating even if it was for free. A hard review but I really hope you will improve your experience in the...
Read moreClearly, this is an amazing place with amazing wines, but the thing we need to all be very conscious of is that they ship their wine globally, using non-refrigerated freight forwarding. It means that if you live in a warm climate or if the wine is shipped through a warm climate, you are very much at risk of temperature damage. They sent the wine to me in Hong Kong when it was 30+ degrees centigrade. And what makes things worse is that when I contacted them to query why they would do that they said they always send their wines without refrigeration. When you’re buying a bottle of Simone at €400 per bottle, I don’t think it’s worth the risk. Maybe you disagree with me, but all of the wine distributors I use would never send their wine unrefrigerated These guys, despite how long they have been in the industry, need to learn a few basics of how to distribute...
