Such an incredible place!! At first I thought that this place might be boring but not at all! The way they turned an old submarine base into a light art exhibition was so amazing! When I first entered, everything was dark. For anyone who brings kids should be aware and hold their hands because my niece cried so hard when she could not see her mom lol. After a few minutes later, I could see more clearly. I saw many pictures and videos surrounding me displayed on the walls and floors. Each of the pictures tells a story about the history of this submarine base and World War 2. They also played music that made me feel calm and inspired me. On the outside of this submarine base, they had many tables located near the river and the weather was very nice. It took us approximately 1 hour to walk through the whole exhibition. Overall, I would give this place a 10 out 10. I also highly recommend this place as one of the great choices for anyone who are interested in digital light art exhibition and those who wants to find a place for relaxation, and I would say that It’s a must visit place when you’re...
Read moreBy the time I got inside, I was ready to leave a one star review for this - badly signposted and left waiting outside for over 5 minutes by the member of staff on duty before we were finally allowed in to pay our entry fee. Finally entered the attraction to be confronted by such poor lighting that it was impossible to see where we were going.
And then the magic happened - a light show like nothing I have ever seen before - projection of images showcasing Gaudi's work (and in another hall, Dali's) with appropriately chosen music (quite a bit of which was Pink Floyd which is always a 'go-to' for this type of show!). Words just can't do this spectacle justice - have a look at the France 24 video on YouTube for a taste of what's on offer and then imagine those images projected onto the walls of cavernous halls & reflected on the water where WW2 U-Boats used to dock.
Also worth mentioning that anyone age 25 or under pays a reduced entry fee and a small exhibit told the story of the building from its WW2 construction to the present day. If you only do one thing when you go to...
Read moreThese are fortified Submarine pens built by the Germans during WW2. The first 4 pens of the building have been fitted out and now houses the biggest digital art centre in the world. They do luminaire shows that project videos of works of art onto the walls, floor and ceiling set to music (which the pictures shot on my phone do not do anything like justice too). It's incredible that a building built to house and maintain machines to kill and cause terror can now contain such amazing displays that evoke such feeling of awe and inspiration. Or indeed that such an brutal building can contain so much beauty on the inside. Maybe there is a metaphor in there somewhere for us as a species or even as individuals.... Or maybe I have had to many beers in the sun today. There is also information inside regarding the history of the building and the role the port of Bordeaux played in the war. Great place I highly...
