We arrived for a late lunch around 1:30pm and we could feel that we were not particularly welcome. We all need the Food Gras which was truly excellent. My wife enjoyed a fish dish. I had ordered the duck breast. Although I had ordered "a la carte" and not ordered from the menu, the duck breast had been split with another customer - which in itself was not the problem. It's quite common to be served only half of these fairly large duck breast. My duck was cooked as expected medium, but you could tell it had been waiting under the heat lamp for a while. Also to my disappointment, I was served the 2 side pieces and no center piece which made it a little tougher. Besides that the dish was nicely presented and sauce was good. The rest of my table had ordered dessert, and the staff quickly moved to serve us dessert without asking if we'd like cheese. Highly unusual unless you're trying to get rid of your guests. We were not even the last table. To top it off, the window was open near us and I we spent the whole lunch fighting a swarm of flies. Although the staff couldn't have done much, they could have offered to close the window instead of offering smirking smiles. Overall a beautiful restaurant with a great menu. Staff was aggravated with us coming in a little late and we suffered the consequences. I will...
Read moreWe had a bike ride tour followed by a tasting & then lunch. The tour started a little late (guide not quite ready & bike seats needed adjusting) but once we got going it was quite fun - the hour passed quickly, the guide was very interesting & knowledgeable & it was lovely to see the countryside at bike pace. We were on very quiet backroads. Tasting was ok - but not tutored really. They didn’t even bring ‘crachoir’ to start with. I think they expected us (4 adults) to quaff all & continue. We might have done this if we’d liked the taste of all the wines! Due to the late start & chatty guide, we were then late for our lunch reservation. Restaurant staff didn’t seem happy about this. Food was ok, plonked in front of us though! The desserts probably got the highest praise.
The last ‘tasting wine’ was the best, but we were not allowed to take the glasses, still containing a decent amount of liquid, to the restaurant to continue drinking it there. Annoying!
Also, the gorgeous climbing roses needed serious attention and...
Read moreChâteau Marquis de Terme offers an amazing wine tasting experience that's truly unique. We had the chance to try seven Grands Crus, each representing different appellations like Pauillac, Saint-Julien, Saint-Estèphe, Margaux, and Haut-Médoc. The tasting even included two other Grands Crus from Barsac and Sauternes, giving us a full picture of the Left Bank’s best.
Each wine had its own character, and it was fascinating to taste the differences across the appellations. This place doesn’t just stop at great wine; they have some excellent experiences and a fantastic restaurant that’s definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Bordeaux—it’s a real treat for...
