The aquarium was spectacular and stuffed animals upstairs were incredible, I've never seen such a range in a small space. I skipped the strange exhibit on Death as I had two young kids with me. The down side was the very grumpy museum attendant upstairs who told off my toddler several times juat for being a kid. The first time I understood as he went under a barrier (although everything was behind glass anyway), but I was already in the process of pulling him back when she came and told him off (and not even addressed to me!). Then he was sitting watching a video for a long time and she watched him with a very mean face and had her eye on him the whole time, just waiting for him to do the wrong thing again. I even made eye contact with her and smiled and she just gave me a strict mean face back. Then when we were leaving he complained slightly and she aggressively shushed him right across the museum. We started on the 1st floor and the natural history museum. It was very clean and tidy and had a good selection of taxidermy animals. Also, dinosaur skeletons hanging from the ceiling.
There is a temporary exhibition on the lifecycle of death, complex subject, but my daughter did view the exhibits.
Moving downstairs to the acquarium, there is a good mixture of specimens of fish, aquatic fauna, and flora. Nice wooden steps so children can see into each of the tanks. We spent about an hour here. There is a nice garden at the back of the museum with seating. They have a break...
