This medium sized aquarium is fantastic. My marine scientist brother and 10 year old nephew agree. I can't imagine many circumstances in which you wouldn't include this on your Nouméan itinerary. As well as living nautiluses, there are so many colourful and interesting fish, sharks, seahorses, corals, etc that you may not get to see any other way. However, you may indeed encounter some of them if you go snorkeling, which I highly recommend even though the visibility wasn't excellent on either of our outings. Luckily I can dive down and so got a closer, clearer view by doing that.
I was able to mobility scoot along Anse Vata Bay to it and almost all the way through the aquarium. I had to leave my scooter and walk up about 15 stairs to get to the turtle rescue pond. I think you can get to the underwater viewing area along a paved path and THINK you don't need to go up or down extra stairs. The upper viewing area is via a few metres of a narrow hard dirt track...

Entry x2 Adults = 3900 - AUD $50 aprox
My main feedback is the Tahitian Prawn needs to be in a much bigger enclosure. He /she can hardly turn around
#prawnneedsmoreroom !!
(Also a few to many lobsters in the tank)
We really enjoyed it - spent a couple of hours here and would recommend a few hours. Would also recommend taking your own lunch and drinks.
there is a few tanks that are definitely over crowded with animals that could easily be fixed and they could have a couple more larger fish and maybe a sting ray.
Generally we really enjoyed this experience and thought it was a good opportunity to see the marine life with out-too much commercial activities
We would love to see turtle feeding but appreciate nature vs nurture.
We feel kids would love this
It would be good to have a map...
Read moreThis was the highlight of our trip to Noumea. What a wonderful place. So well run, and all of the tanks were gleaming and in great condition. All the marine life was looking healthy and relaxed. I was so impressed with the stunning coral displays and tropical fish. Saw several species I'd never seen before. The prices for admission were very reasonable. It was a bit of a line to get in, and it was hot! A bit more shading out the front would be great, but it was not a huge wait. The gift shop had some great items for sale, and nothing was overpriced. Bus stop across the road and made the location very convenient. Loved the outside veiwing pool where the turtle were lots of seating to relax before resuming your tour. I highly recommend visiting here to anyone thinking of...
