Amazing piece of architecture covering the impressive villa excavation site offers a brilliant visit to a huge collection of artifacts found in the roman town of Perigeux including columns, jewelry and pottery. Only downsides to the visit were that the villa's layout is not clearly explained and all text in the museum is written in french, though an audio guide was available - but not for all displays. Added bonus of the huge second century roman tower next door, which was apparently centre of a large forum.

Can't believe this is only €6! Excellent covered roman excavation (we should do this in the UK to make our roman sites all year round places to visit). So many artefacts on display and the view of the site from the gallery is great. Don't forget to look at the ceiling.... Also a really interesting exhibition about Agatha Christie. Learnt lots about her that I didn't know! Visit the tower next to this site too.

An excellent museum covering the Gallo-Roman period on the site of a Roman town house, the excavation of which is both visible and well explained. It is worth watching the short video of the changes to the house between the first and third centuries, set alongside and in the context of the discoveries during the archeological digs, to understand better what one sees. Highly recommended!

Very much worth your while. Beautifully constructed museum around an old noble house which has partially been uncouvered from the deep soil it had been resting in for a few centuries (in the form of a municipal garden). Very detailed audio guided tour with lots of information. The best preserved pre-modern age water pump in Europe is also found here.

We stopped here originally to kill time before checking into our B&B and boy are we glad we did. This is a wonderful museum! It is full of artifacts, and really provides a window into how the Romans lived in this area of France. It has to been seen to really be appreciated. You will not be disappointed if you visit!

The Vesunna Gallo-Roman Museum is a museum of Gallo-Roman art and archaeology in the town of Périgueux, located in the French department of the Dordogne. The Gallo-Roman ruins covered by a glass museum was constructed to protect a historical monument of France.
