Museum of Art and Archaeology Senlis — Attraction in Senlis

It is a beautiful museum, beautiful expositions, beautiful staff and beautiful building inside and outside. The archeology part is our favourite, easily the best we have ever seen. It is worth the € 6 they charge. More than that, the charge covers one more museum (the hunting museum) across the road located in a gorgeous park. Every first Sunday of the months museums in Senlis are free. The lunch break is from 1 to 2pm. Wonderful staff, and there is information in English. If you have a bulky bag, it should be left in a locker at the entrance. Excellent small museum with a good collection of Gallo-Roman artifacts, gargoyles from the Senlis Cathedral and paintings covering a range of periods.

The gallo-roman pieces are from a local sanctuary discovered in the late 1990's. Very interesting film on their discovery and potential meaning.
