So we'll start with the bad to get it out of the way. Stay with me, there's very little.
Currently the road(s) leading to the site is/are under reconstruction, or more accurately rerouting. For this reason, much public outcry has been lambasted upon Disney and it's staff regarding this topic in recent months and to be fair, if you use a SATNAV (who doesn't these days!) your twatnav will freak out in the last few miles of the journey from when you leave the motorway (sorry- autoroute!) But fear not... IT IS VERY WELL SIGN POSTED. Yep that's right, remember them? Temporary signs are on all the major junctions and in fact the new road layout is actually shorter than the old route. When you get to reception, they also have hangout maps to detail drivers during this period.
Bad bits complete, now the good.
First thing to say is that, in spite of how it is portrayed by Disney, the accommodation comprises of static caravans dressed up as cabins/lodges BUT they are immaculate and very well maintained. Overall the site, sorry Ranch, is superb.
At half board, you are provided with tokens for either a breakfast box/hamper (continental breakfast) available from Crockett Ranch, or a 'Quick service meal' in the parks. Additionally you'll get a dinner voucher to spend in the parks also, which you may also use to subsidise meals in non participating Disney restaurant's.
During our stay the Restaurant and swimm8ng pool were closed for renovation etc. From the little we could see, it looked great and I imagine it'll be great when complete.
To compensate for the loss of the Ranch swimming facilities during our stay, Disney are currently issuing vouchers for entry to the Village Nature (Centre Parcs) located next door to Davy Crockett Ranch. I believe from the website that this will be the case until schools out for summer, so this is a great way to get a snapshot of this resort too. Beautiful resort but another review on its own there.
Contrary to some reviews you may read, the car journey is NOT 10-15 minutes drive from Crockett Ranch to the parks. On four occasions the journey took us no more than 5 minutes.
Overall, as with all Disney accommodation, a very well organised, clean and well maintained...
Read moreit takes exactly 10 minutes to ruin what would be otherwise a perfect vacation. an inconsiderate, disrespectful instructor at the purkor park managed to do just that. although we told him 3 times that our daughter (rather tall but frightened) would want the easiest gear/route possible - team had set her with complicated and cumbersome belt. when we asked him to promptly remove her from the trail altogether, he has insisted on her going down crying (!) through the zipper line, just because it is easier for him to unhook.
i would never recommend a facility with such incompetent, disrespectful staff that repeatedly wave out...
