Absolutely appalling attitude and tasting conducted by a member of staff. We approached the outdoor tasting table and stood there the member of staff did not acknowledge or was not interested in making herself known. We asked for a tasting she immediately indicated yes “but” it’s chargeable. Unusual for France after 25 years of living and tasting wines all over the country however at a modest 5€ I said it should be fine. There were 4 of us she was weird about offering her “seat” to the 4th person. So three of of us sat and one stood. She went on to give absolutely no explanation whatsoever about the wine and poured the taster. She poured notable not even a sip of wine for most of the tastings. Bizarre and frankly my first such experience in France. I’ve been to this vineyard twice both other times were perfect and conducted by someone who actually knew a little about the wine. She then proceeded to serve others for a tasting serving almost half a glass full for a tasting. Why this bizarre behaviour towards us. They didn’t buy bottles whereas we bought quite a few. I asked for the tasting of some other wines not on the list instead to telling me it’s a separate tasting also at a modest 7€ she said do you intend on buying a bottle only if you are can you taste them. She then refused to serve my 70 year old mother a second glass of water when it was readily available in her fridge. Instead she was told to go buy a bottle in the restaurant.
typical case of poor staff choice, staff that are untrained , rude and should not be in the service industry. The most weird element is that she appeared to know absolutely nothing about the wine. This is exactly the reason why some business get a bad reputation or lose customers by a poor choice of staff. So unnecessary as the wine is actually good however employing staff such as this really puts the name in a bad light. I hope going forward they make better choices with the...
Read moreWe had the most wonderful tour at Domaine La Courtade. Madeleine was a fantastic host, taking us privately on an English tour because all the other guests spoke French and chatting with us along the way. We loved walking the vineyards and touring the wine-making facilities, and the tasting at the end was the perfect way to cap it off — not to mention how delicious their wine is. Thank you Domaine La Courtade and Madeleine for the...
