Plage de Renécros — Attraction in Toulon

Only two good things about the place: the location and the staff. We had the octopus and the fruit of the sea linguini. All the seafood was frozen and tasted like nothing. The salt in the sauce of the linguini was completely absent. Also, what was the worse for me, was the fact that the waiters are expected to come over your head with multiple offers of the day and either bring a huge blackboard to the table with everything written, then do the same thing with the fresh fish of the day, and then again with the dessert choices. We ordered two glasses of wine (5.50€ in the menu) but were later charged 10.00€ for each glass. So we basically had two plates of bad seafood accompanied with two glasses of mediocre wine and paid a total amount of 83.00€. Unacceptable. On the positive side: the staff was very polite and kind, the view is very nice over the beach, we were accommodated even without a reservation, they serve a small amuse bouche and bread, and the vegetables and sauces served with the octopus were okay. Still not salvageable. I understand the options are limited so the fact that this place is a bit more elevated gets a lot of people's attention, but if you're familiar with the scams touristic places pull you would not fall for this place. The beach itself is magnificent, and quite large. It took me a moment to find the "hidden" access to the beach. The path is not wheelchair accessible since it has steep stairs with sharp turns. The water level is not too deep, it moderately becomes deeper. When I arrived at the beach it was very crowded — despite its size but I managed to find myself a spot right at the rubbish bins. Overall the beach is suitable for families w/kids but if you're on your own — seeking a more peaceful experience — there are better...

We walked here from our Airbnb about 20 minutes away. It was crowded - but not more than you would expect in the summer when it is 90 degrees (F). Earlier in the day the angle of the sun creates some shade by the wall which was nice to have. Beach had a nice breeze and there were rocks to put on your blankets / towels so they stayed in place. Water was calm and colder than expected - but...
