Tbilisi is home to some of the world’s most beautiful parks and one of them is the Mtatsminda Park. This park is equipped with modern recreational facilities that are opened to the public. It’s popular among locals and visitors who wanted to get away from the busy and noisy streets of the city center. The park is perfect for families with kids since it has various entertainment facilities that the little ones will surely love. It has carousels, roller coaster rides, water slides, and a Ferris wheel that opens to the breathtaking views of the city. Highest Point in Tbilisi Mtatsminda Park is located on top of Mount Mtatsminda with a height of 770 meters. Thus, the park is considered the highest point in Tbilisi. Its fairytale setting, which sits alongside modern facilities for the kids, makes your visit to the park even more exciting. Just like with the other theme parks around the world, Mtatsminda Park is divided into various thematic areas. There’s the area for the kids, for families, and for those who are into extreme activities. You’ll also find lots of restaurants and cafes in the park and some other entertainment centers as well as exciting attractions. There’s also a wedding palace, which is a beautiful venue for weddings and other special events. Tbilisi Funicular at Mtatsminda Park The best way to reach the park is to take the cable car, which is also one of the most popular activities in Tbilisi. Built in 1905, the Tbilisi funicular is so famous that it has already become a landmark of the city. Entrance to the funicular can be found at Chonkadze Street and is only a few steps away from the city center. You can purchase a card to ride the cable car and use it for the other rides at the park as well. The card is rechargeable so you can top it up when necessary. Georgian National Pantheon The Mtatsminda Park is also home to the Georgian National Pantheon. This is where some of Georgia’s most famous politicians, artists, and writers are buried. Also called the Mtatsminda Pantheon, this necropolis is located within the grounds of St. David’s Church, right at the slope of the mountain. Officially opened in 1929, some of Georgia’s most prominent personalities have been buried and reburied in the Pantheon ever since. Some of the most famous personalities that were buried here are Alexander Griboyedov, a famous Russian writer, along with his Georgian wife, Nino Chavchavadze. How to Get to Mtatsminda Park There are several ways on how to reach Mount Mtatsminda and explore the park. One is to take the N90 or N124 bus from the Rustaveli Metro Station. But the best way to get to the park is by taking the Tbilisi Funicular. The funicular has three stops. First, it will stop at the Lower Station. Second is the stop for the Georgian National Pantheon and the third stop is the Mtatsminda Mountain. It’s also possible to climb the mountain if you’re adventurous enough. As you climb towards Mtatsminda Park, you will be rewarded with the gorgeous views of Tbilisi along the way

"I strongly advise against visiting this park due to its numerous shortcomings. The funicular, a crucial mode of transportation, is perpetually under maintenance, resulting in a 20-minute wait per stop with no air conditioning. The park's failure to maintain the tram despite collecting money from visitors is unacceptable. Once inside, visitors are forced to wait in line within a building without air conditioning, and the overpriced drinks only add to the frustration. The games and attractions are neglected, making the park's niceties irrelevant. The theme park appears abandoned, and the prices are exorbitant. Our experience was marred by a 20-minute wait to ascend and a grueling one-hour wait to descend, with staff providing misleading information and showing a lack of organization. The waiting area lacked air conditioning, causing discomfort. When we requested a refund, the staff became hostile. The park's redeeming qualities are its vastness, cleanliness, and lush greenery. However, the toilets are small and lack basic amenities like tissues. The only positive aspect is the access to a nearby church with a scenic view. Adventurous individuals can climb up and down, but beware of the steep hill's potential to cause loss of balance. Overall, this park is a disappointment, and I do not recommend it."

The entrance to the park is free and you can stay inside all night if you want. There are many rides inside like a roller coaster, Ferris wheel, free fall, bumping cars, etc. You have to buy a card at the entrance and refill the money for the rides in it at the entrance itself, the card itself doesn't cost anything. The rides cost from 5gel to 12gel, the smaller rides like bumping cars cost 5gel and more extreme ones like roller coaster cost 12gel. There's small shops at the entrance where you can get snacks/juices/water (mind you it's more expensive than a supermarket). There are cute photo booths, costs 5gel for 6pics. There are many restaurants inside although I didn't personally eat at any of them. Many food stalls from burgers to pizza to Georgian food. The Ferris wheel is the best attraction, you can see the entire city from it, rather beautiful after sunset. There's many viewpoints inside and many seats to sit even as a group. The atmosphere is great. Many different events are held there. You can take a bus up but the busses stop after 9 to 10pm so if you're planning to come back later than that do factor in having to call a cab. There are many hike trails that come down from the park to the city too but don't go for them alone at night.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit the park on a quiet weekday as many rides were closed, even in the kids/family section. The ‘extreme’ rides, like the main roller coaster, log flume and mega drop, have an age restriction of 12+ AND you must be at least 145cm. There is also a family section and a kids section, with rides suitable for 3-10yrs. You buy a card for 2GEL at the entrance and prepay an amount on, which then pays for the rides and video games. There are cash desks inside so you can top up as needed. Funds remaining on the card when you leave cannot be refunded. That said, the views of Tbilisi from the Ferris Wheel are great and when you exit, a photographer tells you he can take your photo for free - the free picture is passport sized, with the option of upgrading to a key ring or magnet for a fee. It cost 15GEL for a Bolt taxi from the centre of Tbilisi to reach here, or take the funicular. You must try the ‘ponchiki’ from the Funicular cafe, they’re deep fried cream-filled donuts sprinkled with icing sugar.
