Went to this establishment a while back and am just getting to the review. I am leaving a 1 star because the experience was really horrible.

It is obvious that my friend and I are only English speaking, we drove approximately 50 minutes to go to this place and we were so excited to try the food and beers. The server decided to seat us in her section (knowing we didn’t speak German- it was very obvious when I asked for a table for 2 that I don’t speak German) then acted as though she couldn’t serve us because of the language barrier. I asked for a dunkel and she acted like she couldn’t understand me. I then pulled out my translator app which she then acted as though she didn’t have time for (this was approx at 2 pm and no it wasn’t busy). She told me she didn’t have what I was asking for. A little after ordering I found it on the menu, yes they did have it. I don’t think it matters what your first language is, it’s not that hard to say “dunkel”. In addition I’m sure I’m not the first English speaking person to sit in your section. You could have sat us in a different section, got someone who spoke English, had the patience to read off my translator app, used the menu to point, etc. The rest of the service was terrible. We would say something in English and she would reply back in rapid German. How are you replying back if you didn’t understand us? It was so awkward and incredibly painful. I ended up not getting any of the craft beer, I just wanted to eat the meal and leave. I couldn’t imagine trying to order anything else. When it came time to pay, the server (who was rude to me the entire service) watched me pull money out of my purse then acted as though the tip came from my partner, thanking him. So ridiculous. I tipped because that’s my culture but it seemed as though because I was an English speaker the server expected a tip.

<Public service announcement for anyone who expects a tip from an English speaker just because they are in Europe and you provided them a service: yes it is our culture to tip. Part of tipping is because whoever is providing that service doesn’t receive a full salary and relies on that tip to pay their bills. Also whoever is working for those tips is typically going above and beyond to make sure their customers have the best experience. Tips aren’t just given, they’re earned.> To the lady who decided to ruin my experience: I hope you have better days and not project onto customers.
