In terms of infrastructure and space, this is the best bouldering hall in Berlin (with a bit of sports climbing section.) Nicely set routes, all levels, a big work and stretch out area, a nice sauna and an OK cafe. Sometimes it could do with a bit more cleanliness overall and better food options. I give three stars however because of the customer service. Like other reviewers mention, there is often a „too cool to pay attention/ unfriendly“ attitude among some people working behind the counter. I have been going on and off for years to this place, and repeatedly get ignored while standing there to ask for something while staff chat with each other and then act surprised or unfriendly after a while that I would like to ask for something. (I wonder why else someone would stand at the counter?) I would advise the management two concrete things. 1) train staff: When someone is at the counter, pro-actively ask the question immediately : How can I help you? What can I do for you? 2) Train staff: How to be friendly and polite when you approach customers, making them feel that they can actually ask things and don’t have to feel awkward being a customer. Being friendly and attentive is a first step for any service and more importantly for inclusive behaviour, a value that this place claims to put an emphasis on in its stickers and messages...
Read moreI think the best climbing gym I visited in Berlin so far.
Went during a quick trip to Berlin. Was a bit of a pain to find but reasonably affordable entry and friendly staff.
Deceptively large inside with climbing spread across a few floors. Was there for about 3.5 hours. Did all the reds, a few of the purples, loads more I wanted to get on but didn’t have the time. Harder grades look decent too but too hard for just a flying visit.
Great variety of angles, really liked the cave/roof section. The top out wall is a pretty cool feature as well.
Really good setting, lots of different styles of climbing. Most Berlin gyms seem to be quite focused on more modern indoor styles which is cool, but it’s also nice to find some classic hard climbing on bad holds.
The training area upstairs is cool too. Nice to see a Kilter board. Hope they have some plans to expand this area, some more system boards would be a great addition.
Was VERY busy when I arrived (around 19:00) but that’s like any bouldering wall in the evening I guess, got much quieter later on though (open till 23:00!!)
My only critique is that the vinyl matting makes the whole place feel kinda dirty.
Had a great time, will def return next time...
Read moreI’ve been a regular at this gym for a while and generally appreciate the facilities and the community atmosphere. However, I recently experienced frustration with their FLINTA evenings, which I find problematic. While I fully support creating safe spaces for marginalized groups, I don’t think this should come at the expense of excluding others. Inclusivity should mean bringing people together, not dividing them based on gender identity or biological characteristics.
What’s more, the FLINTA events are only advertised on Instagram, which I don’t use, making it hard for people like me to know when the gym is unavailable. I also find it misleading that the gym starts rejecting people as early as 15:00 for an event advertised to begin at 17:00. It feels unfair to be turned away when I arrived with enough time for a normal training session.
I believe there’s a way to support everyone in a more inclusive manner, where safe spaces can be maintained without excluding others. Clear communication and better planning would go a long way to ensuring the gym remains welcoming to all. I hope the gym considers feedback and finds ways to better balance inclusivity for all...
