Helios Leuchtturm Ehrenfeld — Attraction in Cologne

The Helios lighthouse is situated in Ehrenfeld, one of the most colourful districts in Cologne. One might wonder why there is a lighhouse so far away from the see.

In fact, Ehrenfeld was an independent city in year 1882 when the light bulb and telegraph factory "Helios Inc." was established. The factory belonged to some of the most innovative and successful in Europe.

For marketing and image purpose the factory invested in an extraordinary signature mark: a 44 meter high lighthouse.

Der Leuchtturm sieht besonders bei gutem Wetter sehr malerisch aus. Einen Stern weniger, weil die Stadt Köln da wenig etwas daraus macht. Eigentlich unternimmt sie gar nichts, um genau zu sein. Genau so wie beim Fernsehturm ist es nicht möglich den Turm zu besichtigen oder hochzusteigen. Es wäre eine sehr gute Einnahmequelle für die Stadt genau so eine spannende Attraktion...

Der schönste innerstädtische Leuchtturm von allen. Ohne den Heliosturm wäre Ehrenfeld nicht Ehrenfeld. Quasi als Maskotchen des Stadtteils steht der Turm am Rande des alten Heliosgeländes und wird die anstehende Quartiersentwicklung hoffentlich...
