⭐⭐⭐⭐
My recent visit to this zoo was an absolute delight from start to finish! This place is a true haven for animal lovers, offering a unique combination of adorable koalas and an unforgettable dolphin show that left me enchanted.
The koala exhibit was a highlight of my day. These furry, cuddly creatures stole my heart with their endearing personalities and their leisurely perches in eucalyptus trees. The opportunity to observe them up close and learn about their habits was a rare treat, and I couldn't resist taking countless photos to remember the experience.
The dolphin show was nothing short of spectacular. The incredible agility and intelligence of these marine mammals were on full display as they wowed the audience with their flips, jumps, and playful antics. It was not only entertaining but also educational, as the show emphasized the importance of marine conservation. The only drawback was that the show was completely hosted in German.
Throughout the zoo, the enclosures were spacious and well-maintained, ensuring the animals' comfort and well-being.
The lush landscaping and scenic views added to the overall charm of the zoo, creating a serene and enjoyable atmosphere for visitors of all ages. And when it came time for a break, there were plenty of dining options to choose from, offering a variety of delicious snacks and meals.
This zoo is a true gem, offering a perfect blend of entertainment, and a deep appreciation for the animal kingdom. I left with a heart full of fond memories. If you're looking for a day of wonder and joy, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this zoo. It's an experience you won't...
Read moreWe recently visited Duisburg Zoo, and overall, it was a great but mixed experience.
👍 What I Liked: The zoo features some unique animals you don’t usually see in other German zoos—like red panda, koalas, manatees, elephants, and even Tasmanian devils, which was a nice surprise.
The layout is quite spacious and natural, with wooded surroundings and open paths. It felt more like a walk in the park with animal stops along the way. Big animals like elephants have enough space for themselves, and the zoo even mimic what's their real niche.
They also have colourful aquariums with beautiful corals and farms.
Great for families! There are playgrounds and picnic areas scattered around, making it easy to spend a full day with kids.
For photography lovers, it’s a solid spot. Many enclosures offer good visibility without too much glare or obstruction.
What Could Be Better: Some parts of the zoo feel a bit dated. A few enclosures could definitely use a facelift or renovation. I did have concerns about animal welfare, especially with the gorillas and elephants—some seemed anxious or restless.
Great value for money and the highlight and the crowd pleaser is the Dolphin show. They have names like Delfin, Delfina, Daisy..
🎟️ Practical Info: Entrance fee: €19.50 for adults,...

The worst part is parking. There is a very small park area in front of entrance, which can not accommodate all visitors. So most visitors need to park 800 m far away from the entrance. And as the path to the parking lot is located directly next to Autobahn Street, it is dusty and loud.
Please be aware that Kinder fahrzeug (Roller, fahrrad, laufrad) is not allowed. And it is also badly informed. There is no sign or information about this at all in the entrance area as well as on the website. They just can rent the small lock, so visitor can lock it outside in front of the entrance. But as our roller was not suitable for that, we needed to put it back in our car.
Not kinder friendly Fences are built quite high overall, so small kids can not easily watch animals. Parents always need to help little ones. There are two playgrounds. One is located in the central area, but very very small. The other is located at the end of the zoo, so not many kids play there.
Poor food selections. There are only Pommes and wurst, waffle, eis, drinks. So if you want to spend the whole day in the zoo, it is better to bring your own foods for little ones.
So far worst...
