A really great free facility set up to help teach kids about animals, particularly ones that live in German forests. You can buy some feed and pet the deer and boar (if you're gentle enough for them to come near.
There's also a little part with some raccoons, stoats and others with a lot of signs asking you not to feed the animals there. The best advice I could give is to do what the sign says and not to feed them, there's a good reason. They have particular diets and you, as a guest, should respect that.
That means that you shouldn't feed them even if your kid is crying because the spoilt little brat wants a photo and this'll get the racoon closer to you. That isn't how diets work. If you fancy doing it anyways, and you're then asked what you're doing, don't start hurling abuse at whoever's asking you why you're doing that, it's not going to make them stop from telling you what you are; scum that sacrifices an animal's well-being so you can get a photo and a terrible parent that's raising their child to be just as awful as you are now.
Congratulations for ruining my day though, I hope your drive...
Read moreTips: -You can ONLY feed apples and carrots to the animals. You can bring them from home, I do not know if they sell it as there was one building I did not enter. Based on what I observed and bought, you can only buy some food for the animals using the automat (only accepts 1 euros) Deers did not attack anyone when I was there but do not forget they are wild animals and they are strong. Their hit could be bad for your little kids. These are not aggressive animals so unless you do something not nice you will be fine. Kids screaming and running around the deer is a very bad idea. Animals could hit when they are frightened. There is no staff around the actual deers but this does not mean you are free to do anything. Take care of your kids at all times -There is no direct public transport but there is a car park at the entrance. It is kind of top of a hill so after transferring from the tram I walked around 1-2 km uphill. Not a steep one though. -Went there on saturday and it was not crowded
Very cool place. Deers have relatively large areas to live compared to most of the zoos. I...
Read more⭐ Location Review ⭐ This is the best outdoor activity I found in Düsseldorf! The entrance is free, the space is large, and there are various animals to watch and feed.
The highlight is feeding the animals—they come right up to you! The grounds are well-maintained, and there's plenty of room to walk around freely.
🚉 Getting There 🚉 If using public transport, be prepared for a 20-minute walk uphill, which might be challenging for small children. Driving is more convenient.
😺 Tips for a Better Visit 😺 Arrive early when the animals are still hungry. Bring carrots and apples (available at a nearby Netto) to feed them. Boars prefer apples, while deer enjoy both. Cut them into small pieces for easy feeding 🥕🍎. Avoid the vending machines for animal food; the animals didn’t seem to like it. Pack snacks and water for yourself, as no food is sold on-site 🥪
