The opening hours are not very long in March. Did not get to go inside, but the outside was interesting. Ended up walking around most of the old city, but little was open on a Friday...

Sehenswerte, ab dem ersten Drittel des 15.Jhs. unter Herzog Ludwig VII. dem Gebarteten von Bayern-Ingolstadt errichtete Residenz der Herzöge von Bayern-Landshut in Form einer Stadtburg, einer der bedeutendsten Profanbauten des 15.Jhs. in Bayern sowie Ausgangspunkt der die Altstadt umwallenden neuzeitlichen Festungsanlagen. El castillo de insgolstad, es un edificio monumental y bien conservado, hoy día alberga un Museo de Historia Militar Bávaro con importantes fondos originales de los siglos XVI y XVII. El antiguo castillo, el Herzogkasten, existe desde el siglo XIII. Hacia 1430 se construyó un nuevo castillo. Aproximadamente entre 1470 y 1490 pasó a manos del duque Luis IX. de Baviera-Landshut y su hijo, el duque Jorge el Rico de Baviera-Landshut, fue ampliada considerablemente y convertida en una residencia moderna.
