Panorama terrace Turmberg — Attraction in Karlsruhe

A lovely afternoon going up the funicular. There is a restaurant at the top but you need reservations and you must not be casually dressed. We were casually dressed and didn't have reservations and were sent on our way by a couple of men who didn't seem to have much English but were not overly rude. One of my favorite spots in Karlsruhe is this historic tower in the old part of the city, Durlach. A wonderful place to gather with friends outdoors for drinks or explore a local site for some history.

Bathroom access is limited to careful with your beer.

There is a tram that comes up from Durlach but can also hike up or reach by car.

Parking is limited and oftentimes challenging, unless you’re good parallel parking in creative ways.

Since the renovation work, the lookout point in Durlach is one of Karlsruhe's highlights, especially for tourists.You'll find many people on the terrace in the summer, enjoying the view with friends and a cold drink. Climb the Turmberg itself to get an even better vantage point with two levels available. Be aware that the winding and rather tight stairwell in the Turmberg is probably not for everyone.
