Germany is filled with wonderful museums. This is one to not miss. In many ways this is very similar to the original Henry Ford Garage in Detroit, Herein this museum is where the first three wheeled gasoline car was invented by Carl Benz. For such a world changing technology, it's hard to imagine that it all started here. Primarily because its such an innocuous location. Aside from this factor, frankly this is a very nice place to visit simply because the collection, while small is amazing and significant. Fret not, the language is in English and German. After your visit check out the town of Ladenburg which is small, amazing, and filled with history too. There you'll find Roman ruins and the town's history goes back to the late middle ages. Read moreThis small museum is well worth a visit, its website doesn't do it proper justice. It is an old factory site, chock-a-block packed with very interesting cars, bikes and motorcycles, memorabilia. Info is shared both in English and German - lots of history and fun facts.
The museum has ample onsite parking, but it is also walking distance from the town centre parking lots. There is an on-site cafe as well, but it was reduced to honesty box drink options when we visited. Probably more operational during the summer months. The museum has a couple of the rare cars from this second automotive business venture, and many other early German automobiles; naturally quite a few from Benz & Cie and the descendent businesses.
