Volunteer run museum showcasing ruins from the Roman Period, if you are interested in history, various artifacts, and ruins this place will be interesting for you!

The signs on the floor are in German, however the front desk has booklets with the information translated to English or they can even provide tours!

If you like history visit, if it isn't so interesting for you admission is free anyways so I encourage you to pop in if you are in the area, the entrance is across from an ATM.

Admission is free, but I want to encourage you to donate, every small amount helps keep places like...

It's a small sight and will probably take you less than one hour. However, it's completely free and well worth a visit. As the museum is run by volunteers, they usually LOVE to share their deep knowledge of the history of Mainz. Ask the volunteers loads of questions - that's my recommendation. This is by far the best and most engaging way of learning about the distant past in Mainz (and also many cool facts about ancient religious cults and roman military life). The Isis-Temple is a fantastic sight in Mainz - I absolutely recommend...

Very interesting Roman excavations which can be entered through the shopping mall Römer Passage in Mainz. Entrance is free but you can leave a donation. They show authentic artefacts from the antique Roman era. Very qualified guides are ready to answer your questions and they show a little show to tell the story of the temple. The excavations themselves are partly open and partly under a glass floor to view from above

Great and stylish. The museum is small but very interesting, and it might take more than an hour to go through it. The exhibition makes you immerse into the depth of ventures down to the prehistoric times. The guide is very friendly and very knowledgeable.
